Argentine data shows ongoing drought affects grain production
According to the latest forecast data released by the Rosario Grain Exchange in Argentina, due to continued drought weather in the western part of the agricultural belt, Argentina's grain production in the 2009/10 season will be far below the level previously expected.

Although some analysts believe soybean production will reach 55 million tons, the Rosario Grain Exchange estimates soybean production at 47 million tons.

The exchange stated that the drought has affected some areas, such as Cordoba Province, Santiago del Estero Province, western Buenos Aires Province and the northern region, which means actual production figures may be revised downward rather than upward.

The Rosario Grain Exchange estimates total grain production for this season at 77 million tons, higher than 63 million tons last year. Soybean production is expected to be 47 million tons, corn production 13 million tons, wheat 8 million tons, sunflower seeds 3 million tons, sorghum 2 million tons, and other grains 4 million tons.
