Yesterday, a reporter learned from the Beijing Xinfadi Market that egg prices have recently shown a trend of steady decline.
According to Xinfadi Market statistics, on September 26 the average wholesale price of eggs was 172.5 yuan per box, a decline of about 4.43% compared with the beginning of the month. The highest point for egg prices this month was September 13, when the average wholesale price was 182.5 yuan per box. In mid-to-late September, although egg prices fluctuated, the overall trend was downward.
Market analysts pointed out that the recent decline in egg prices was mainly because, after the Mid-Autumn Festival, manufacturers making mooncakes and pastries began to reduce their demand for eggs as a raw material, increasing the supply of eggs on the market. In addition, since the start of autumn the weather has gradually turned cooler, laying hens have increased their egg production, and the supply of eggs on the market has increased noticeably, causing egg prices to decline somewhat.
