Spotted trout salmon trial-cultured in deep-sea cages
On the 26th, 4,000 spotted trout salmon were placed in sea areas off Daqin Island, Changdao County, Yantai City, Shandong Province, for trial cage culture, filling a gap in China's culture of spotted trout salmon in seawater. It is reported that deep-water cage fish farming has become another pillar industry in Changdao County after the farming of kelp and other seaweeds and scallops and other precious seafood.
Experts introduced that trout salmon belongs to the salmon series, is a cold-water fish, and is suitable for water temperatures below 23 C. It grows quickly, can reach 6 8 jin in 18 months, and has quite high market value. So far it has a culture history of more than 120 years, with culture areas across more than 20 countries and regions, and a fairly large culture industry has already formed. However, China's existing trout salmon culture output is only more than 6,000 tons, and more than 95% of it is cultured in freshwater, while trout salmon cultured in seawater has better quality than that cultured in freshwater. Changdao County's culture of spotted trout salmon in seawater is the first of its kind in China.
The spotted trout salmon variety introduced this time in the sea area of Daqin Island, Changdao, is a hybrid variety of Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout, developed and bred by the Shandong Institute of Marine Culture. This trial culture will focus on testing the overwintering growth of spotted trout salmon in the sea area of Daqin Island. The trial culture of this variety further enriches the fish culture varieties of Changdao County and will enhance the culture benefits of the island's ecological fishery.
Marine fish cage culture is still an emerging industry in Changdao County. Since 2002, Changdao County began exploring deep-water cage fish farming. Up to now, Changdao County has formed a complete set of systematic and scientific fish culture procedures, with nearly 300 deep-water fish cages of various types, holding nearly 5 million fish including black rockfish, greenling, and sea bass. This year, nearly 1,000 tons of black rockfish have been sold, realizing income of nearly 40 million yuan.
