Farms that build supporting biogas utilization achieve high returns

As the structure of rural livestock farming changes, large-scale farms account for an ever-growing share of the industry, and the demand for biogas project construction has gradually emerged. To meet farms' demand for biogas construction, Zhushan County in Hubei Province has, since last December, organized 5 technicians to take part in provincial- and county-level training on farm biogas engineering technology, and spent 30,000 yuan to produce a set of steel-form biogas digesters with a capacity of 70 cubic meters to support the farms.

At the same time, Zhang Hongwu, manager of the Weikang Ecological Chicken Farm in Qiao'ergou Village, Chengguan Town, in the county, also invested 40,000 yuan to build a small biogas project. It is understood that the Qiao'ergou Village chicken farm began construction in October last year, with a designed laying hen capacity of 40,000 birds and a current farming capacity of 10,000 birds. The construction of this small biogas project not only meets the farm's household energy needs and the production energy needs for chick hatching and warming the laying hens; the surplus biogas can also be supplied to nearby farming households. The biogas residue and biogas slurry are supplied to the 1,500-mu apricot-plum base already built locally to produce organic fruit, achieving a “win-win” for both farming and planting.
