New Method for Farming Ground Beetles - Straw Three-Dimensional Breeding

The ground beetle is an omnivorous insect; vegetable leaves, melon rinds, pasture grass, bran and cornmeal are all ideal feeds for it, and feed materials are widely available, making breeding costs low. After years of painstaking research, the Special Animal and Plant Improved Variety Experimental Farm in Minquan County, Henan Province, which has long been devoted to the research and development of ground beetles, has explored a new technique for breeding ground beetles using large amounts of discarded crop straw such as wheat straw, corn straw and rice straw, becoming a major breakthrough in China's ground beetle breeding technology. Using this technique not only lowers the cost of ground beetle breeding by more than 70% and multiplies breeding efficiency, but also turns large amounts of idle crop straw in rural areas from waste into treasure, greatly increasing its value.
To make a profit from ground beetle breeding, improved varieties and techniques are the most critical. In the past, apart from the fact that high-priced seed speculation captured a considerable profit margin, the main reason some ground beetle breeders failed to make a profit was that they adopted traditional, backward breeding techniques and introduced mixed, seriously degraded ground beetle varieties. Adopting the straw breeding method together with a three-dimensional breeding model can increase both the breeding efficiency and utilization rate of an ordinary farm room by more than 5 times. The construction of three-dimensional breeding houses can be simple: idle ordinary farm rooms, plastic greenhouses with asbestos tiles, or cement board masonry will all do, and small and medium-sized breeders can also use plastic basins as containers and build racks with bamboo poles, wooden sticks and the like for breeding.
