Muskrat market conditions look promising, with broad prospects for farming

Recently, the China Muskrat Breeding Base signed a letter of intent with an Indonesian client for "joint production of musk essential oil." All products will be distributed by the Indonesian client, and the raw materials for the musk essential oil will mainly be supplied by the China Muskrat Breeding Base. The annual production of 68 kg of musk essential oil requires 200 kg of muskrat musk.

Musk essential oil produced from muskrat musk has unique therapeutic effects on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, skin diseases, and neurological diseases. Musk essential oil mainly works by activating cells and promoting the regeneration of necrotic cells. In nature, muskrat musk is mainly used to attract the opposite sex through its scent. After processing, musk essential oil is also a natural harmony agent for sexuality in the animal kingdom.

The musk supply gap at the China Muskrat Breeding Base is around 300 kg. To meet the demand, muskrat farmers nationwide are extending a helping hand to jointly accomplish this great undertaking. Farmers producing more than 500 grams of musk per year can go to the breeding base to sign orders. As demand for muskrat musk grows, farmers are reminded to strictly follow the steps for extracting musk, strictly disinfect, and extract musk in a clean and hygienic manner to ensure the purity of the musk.

Testing in recent years has confirmed that there is a certain gap in the quality of musk extracted from high-quality muskrats versus that extracted from low-quality muskrats. Therefore, farmers must maintain the superior qualities of their muskrats, avoid inbreeding, and keep detailed bloodline records. Furthermore, do not introduce wild muskrats for breeding, and do not crossbreed them with superior muskrats. Wild rats have very low musk yields and very poor quality.
