Fruit radishes successfully trial-planted on a large scale in Northeast China

Eat radishes in winter and ginger in summer, and you won't need a doctor's prescription. These days, autumn vegetables are starting to come onto the market one after another. A reporter learned from the Shuangxing Commodity City vegetable wholesale market that the first truckload of "fruit radishes" this autumn arrived in Dalian a few days ago, and the "fruit radishes" that were expensive in previous years have taken a down-to-earth route this year.
In the past two days, some vendors selling radishes have already put up the banner of "fruit radishes." These radishes, called "fruit radishes," cost only a tiny bit more than ordinary large radishes, a clear difference compared with the high prices of fruit radishes in previous years. When a reporter interviewed people at the Zhongnan Road market, a local resident told the reporter that he had noticed great changes in "fruit radishes" over the years. In his impression, "fruit radishes" were small and exquisite, but now any radish can be called by this name, and some of them really do taste quite good.
It is understood that Tong Jiaxin was the earliest vendor to introduce the concept of "fruit radishes" to Dalian, and over the years he has also run this variety in quite a distinctive way. Guided by management staff at the Shuangxing Commodity City vegetable wholesale market, the reporter got in touch with Tong Jiaxin. When the call went through, he was far away in a radish field in Heilongjiang. "This year's fruit radishes arrived in Dalian two days ago." Tong Jiaxin told the reporter a piece of good news: this year's "fruit radishes" were successfully trial-planted on a large scale in Northeast China. Although heavy rain caused a reduction in yield, on the whole it counts as a bumper year. Moreover, this year's "fruit radishes" are priced lower than in previous years, about the same as ordinary large radishes, so people in Dalian can finally eat affordable, premium "fruit radishes."
What are fruit radishes
According to Tong Jiaxin, "fruit radish" is actually not the name of a variety, but a nickname. "Fruit radishes" have more than 80 local variety resources in our country, and generally speaking, their taste is crisp, sweet and refreshing, just like fruit. "The earliest 'fruit radishes' in Dalian were a hybrid variety grown in Shandong, and they are also a relatively common type now on the Dalian market: small in size, generally only about a hand-span long; dark green on the outside, with a particularly small white root, no more than a finger wide apart from the root hairs; green flesh, with tender skin, a taste that has shed its pungency, and a slight sweetness."
What other fruit radishes are there
Beijing's Xinlimei radish, Tianjin Weiqing radish, Weixian radish, and Jiangsu Rugao radish are all quite famous "fruit radishes." There are far more "fruit radish" varieties than these: Jinan Qingyuancui, Datian Liansi radish, Suzhou Gaotan radish, Xiaoxian Longcheng Town Maoshan radish, Jiangji Nentouqing, Tunxi Baipili, and Jiangjin Shaguan are all excellent fruit radish varieties. Among them, Xinlimei and Tianjin Weiqing radish sell quite well in Dalian.
