San Nong Express comprehensive report: Unsold agricultural products have become a persistent worry for farmers. Recently, Zhou Junshan, a farmer from Gulang County, Wuwei City, in our province, opened a Weibo account to promote the unsold potatoes from his hometown, hoping to use this platform to sell the potatoes as soon as possible.
More than 50,000 people reposted the Weibo post
On the evening of September 13, the Weibo user "Gulang Zhou Junshan" posted two consecutive Weibo posts, saying that farmers in Heisongyi Town, Gulang County, had planted a very large area of potatoes this year, and "the harvest is good, but there is no sales channel; I hope everyone will repost and help contact potato buyers." Zhou Junshan's Weibo post was quickly reposted. As of 18:00 yesterday, more than 50,000 people had reposted it, and netizens had left more than 10,000 comments. Many netizens said that Gansu potatoes are very delicious, and one netizen commented: "This year, I want to eat more potatoes."
Zhou Junshan's phone became a hotline
Yesterday afternoon, the reporter got through to Zhou Junshan's mobile phone. Zhou Junshan told the reporter that the potato harvest period is around National Day, and because not many buyers had come early on, he was anxious on behalf of the growers, so he posted on Weibo. "Since I posted on Weibo to 'sell' potatoes, I receive at least a dozen inquiry calls every day from merchants all over the country, especially at night, when even more merchants call to inquire, but very few come to buy." Zhou Junshan said, "What is reassuring is that after seeing the Weibo post, Lanzhou Third People's Hospital purchased 10,000 jin of potatoes."
30,000 tons of potatoes unsold and awaiting buyers
"The latest statistics show that this year the town's potato planting area is 25,300 mu, and the total output is expected to reach 37,000 tons. As of the afternoon of October 12, only 2,200 tons of potatoes in the town had been sold, and about 34,000 tons were still awaiting buyers. The situation is fairly serious." Li Xinghe, the deputy town head of Heisongyi Town in charge of agriculture, said this yesterday in an interview with the reporter, and said the town strongly supports Zhou Junshan's personal Weibo efforts to help local growers sell potatoes.
According to Deputy Town Head Li Xinghe, in order to solve the problem of unsold potatoes in Heisongyi Town, the town government mainly adopted four measures. First, publicize and mobilize farmers to harvest potatoes from the fields in a timely manner; second, mobilize growers to store potatoes temporarily and sell them at staggered times; at present, the town has mobilized farmers to dig 2,000 storage cellars, which can store about 10,000 tons; third, mobilize local economically capable people (self-employed individuals) to make purchases; fourth, the town government signed an agreement with a local economically capable person (self-employed individual) to purchase part of the potatoes directly from the fields.
