  In 1992, Lu Qingnian, laid off from the Caowei Rice Mill in Yuanjiang City and returning to his hometown, founded a small rice mill, purchasing and processing paddy rice and selling rice, generating a total profit of more than 500,000 yuan over 6 years. On the basis of permanently leasing 146 hectares of paddy fields in Qianshanhong Town for high-grade high-quality rice production, he continuously signed high-quality rice production orders with farmers in the town. By 2010, the area of production orders signed with various townships in Yuanjiang City had grown to 6,300 hectares. The rice varieties selected included new high-grade high-quality rice varieties such as Xiangzaoxian No. 45, Xiangwanxian No. 13 and Xiangwanxian No. 17. He attaches importance to scientific farming and to the use of advanced production and cultivation techniques. All the leased paddy fields adopted simplified and lightened cultivation management with chemical weed control, mechanical tillage and mechanical harvesting. The order production areas adopted seedling-throwing cultivation, and 2 cultivation and plant protection experts from the Agriculture Bureau were hired as part-time advisers. At the same time, the company was equipped with a complete set of modern agricultural machinery, with 5 large and small tillage and harrowing machines, 6 water pumps, 2 harvesters, 3 transport vehicles, 2 sets of dryers, and a drying yard of 10,000 sq m. The leased paddy fields achieved mechanized operation in farming activities such as land preparation, irrigation, pesticide application, harvesting, drying and storage and transport. In production management, a district-based responsibility system was adopted; according to production conditions and management levels, each management staff member was responsible for 20 hectares of planted area. Management staff wages were directly linked to output.

Through years of development and improvement, it now has a grain processing and operating site of more than 20,000 sq m, 2 rice processing workshops, 2 ordinary rice production lines and 1 fine rice production line, with an annual processing capacity of 100,000 tons, a current storage capacity of 50,000 tons, and 2 dedicated grain loading and unloading wharves of 500-ton class. It has built a series of registered high-quality rice trademarks under the master brand name "Lu Qingnian", whose main varieties include "Qianfu Fragrant Rice", "Qianfu Soft Rice", "Huxiang Rice", "Xiangtu Farmhouse Rice" and "Lu Qingnian Rice", with a sales network covering many provinces and cities across the country.
