Frog and loach polyculture brings in over 40,000 yuan per mu

Recently, in Zhengji Town, Yicheng City, a special farming model of raising frogs and loaches in rice paddies has become a hot topic, with income from one mu of land reaching more than 40,000 yuan.

Around 2000, Wang Anwei, Wang Ansi and Dang Weiwei went together to Wenzhou, Zhejiang to work, each earning an annual salary of around 50,000 yuan. In early 2009, they spotted the business opportunity of farming frogs in rice paddies on the Internet. After on-site inspections in Yiyang, Hunan, Deyang, Sichuan, Xuzhou, Jiangsu and other places, they found that the market prospects for artificially domesticated frogs were broad, and no one in Hubei had yet taken up this farming project. At the end of last year, the three of them resolutely returned to their hometown to start a business, investing 150,000 yuan to farm frogs.

In addition to putting frog stock into the paddy fields, they also ingeniously introduced loach fry. After more than three months of hard work feeding them, the total number of adult frogs raised has now reached 550,000, worth 280,000 yuan. Each mu can produce more than 1,000 kg of frogs, bringing in 40,000 yuan. At the same time, each mu of paddy field ditches is used to raise 150 kg of loaches, which can bring in 3,000 yuan, and produces 800 kg of pollution-free (no chemical fertilizer, no pesticide) rice, which can bring in 2,500 yuan.
