Wang Qingshan said he wanted to ask experts to explain how to grow rice without getting diseases and which varieties are suitable for planting in Northeast China. The expert suggested that Wang Qingshan try planting green rice, a new variety that is resistant to lodging and rice blast. Rice blast is one of the important diseases in rice cultivation, and in severe cases it can reduce yields by 40%-50% or even result in total crop failure. "Green rice does not mean green-colored rice; its brown rice appears green, which means there is some green seed coat in the middle of the rice husk, while the seed coat of ordinary rice is white." Green rice belongs to a type of functional rice and is still a new variety.

Seven-colored rice is expected to hit the market

The rice consumers have always eaten may no longer come in just one color in the future. White, yellow, green, black, purple, gold, and silver seven-colored rice is expected to appear on the market. Experts say that seven-colored rice is currently in the variety cultivation stage; the color of seven-colored rice is as vivid as raw rice, and the colors do not bleed into each other. Because of its multiple colors and relatively high nutritional value, its selling price is naturally also high. Generally, the market price of seven-colored rice is about 10 yuan/500 g, 5 times that of ordinary rice.

In terms of cultivation management, seven-colored rice is not very different from ordinary rice in planting difficulty, but the green rice among them has very thin straw stems, and its disease resistance, pressure resistance, and wind resistance are relatively weak, so there are slightly more difficulties in management.

Experts analyze that as people become increasingly particular about the color, shape, quality, nutrition, maturity period, freshness, and other aspects of agricultural products, seven-colored rice gives people a refreshing feeling and fills a gap in the market.
