Bamboo Net Duck Farming: Eco-Friendly and Profitable

Recently, in the Donghan Poultry Industry standardized meat duck breeding community in Fangli Village, Dongsong Township, Luoning County, farmer Xiao Li said happily: “I raise about 5000 ducks per batch. After deducting the costs of ducklings, medicine, feed and other miscellaneous expenses, I make a net profit of 10,000 yuan per batch.”

The county's Donghan Company standardized breeding community was completed and put into use in April last year. It was designed according to the “duck——biogas——forest” ecological concept and in line with international environmental standards. The community covers an area of 150 mu, with a total investment of 4.5058 million yuan, and consists of two parts: a living function area and a meat duck breeding area. The meat duck breeding area has 20 standardized meat duck breeding sheds, each with a building area of 10,000 sq m, and a total building area of more than 21,000 sq m. It also adopts a new type of high-density meat duck breeding technology process on nets, which can support 30 farming households in raising ducks, with each household making a profit of about 50,000 yuan.

“Raising ducks on nets means letting the ducks live on bamboo nets woven from bamboo strips with gaps. Raising ducks this way is not limited by climate. Not only do the ducks grow quickly and have a high survival rate, but the duck manure is also especially easy to collect.” Xiao Li said that after the duck manure is collected and dried, it can be used as organic fertilizer or directly used to produce biogas, avoiding pollution of water sources and the rural environment, while also effectively preventing the occurrence of duck diseases.

At present, more and more farmers in Luoning are adopting this method of raising ducks to increase their income and become wealthy.
