Clever Processing of Livestock and Poultry Waste Brings Significant Increases in Benefits
After simple processing, some discarded materials from rural areas can be used as feed additives to feed livestock and poultry, which can both improve economic benefits and reduce environmental pollution, achieving two goals at once.
Eggshells: Eggshells contain 94% calcium carbonate, 1% magnesium carbonate, and 5% protein. The processing method is: wash the eggshells clean with water, put them into boiling water and boil for half an hour, then remove and sun-dry or oven-dry, then crush into powder. This is a high-quality mineral feed for livestock and poultry. Mix it into the feed at 1%-2% of the daily ration for pigs, 0.5%-1% of the daily ration for cattle and sheep, and 3%-4% of the daily ration for laying hens.
Silkworm droppings: Each kilogram of silkworm droppings (silkworm feces) contains 85 grams of digestible protein and 15.15 kilojoules of energy. Therefore, feeding pigs with silkworm droppings makes them fatten faster and at lower cost than using a single feed. The processing method is also simple: just sun-dry the silkworm droppings, crush them, soak them in clean water for 2-3 hours, and after they soften, mix them into the feed at 10% of the daily ration for piglets, 15% for growing pigs, and 20% for adult pigs.
Rabbit manure: Dried rabbit manure contains 18.7% crude protein, 43% fat, 2% ash, and so on. There are 3 ways to feed rabbit manure to pigs: 1. Sun-dry and crush the rabbit manure, then mix it into the feed at a certain proportion. 2. Soak the sun-dried rabbit manure in water, and after it softens, mix it into the feed. 3. Mix the day's fresh rabbit manure into the feed; feed piglets 0.2 kg per day and growing pigs 3 kg per day.
Miscellaneous bones: Miscellaneous bones are rich in calcium and phosphorus and are a high-quality mineral feed for livestock and poultry. When processing, put various animal bones into a pot, add plant ash water (prepared by adding 2.5 kg of plant ash per kilogram of water) and boil. While boiling, scoop out the floating oil and bone glue on top, and continuously add plant ash water until there is basically no oil on the water surface. Then remove the bones, sun-dry them, smash large pieces into small pieces, and then crush and sieve them to make bone meal. When using, add the required amount for livestock and poultry to the feed, mix well, and feed.
Corncobs: Corncobs contain 2.2% crude protein, 0.9% crude fat, 29.7% crude fiber, and also contain minerals, vitamins, and trace elements. When processing, just sun-dry and crush them into powder. Before feeding, soak them in water at 5%-8% of the daily ration for pigs to soften them, then mix them into the feed and feed.
Peanut shells: Peanut shells contain fat, starch, sugars, as well as minerals, vitamins, and so on. When processing, crush them and mix them into wheat bran and concentrated feed at 10% as an additive to feed chickens, which can increase the egg production rate of chickens by 20%.
