Wendeng vegetable farmers get rich through standardized production
Through advancing the construction of standardized production bases, Wendeng has continuously raised the level of standardized production and quality testing of agricultural products, and the number of pollution-free agricultural product certifications has increased year after year. A few days ago, reporters learned from relevant departments that Wendeng's pollution-free agricultural product certifications have reached 128, and in the first quarter the whole city sold more than 30,000 tons of pollution-free agricultural products, with 20,000 farming households relying on this "golden key" to increase their incomes and get rich.
Sui Jiangqiu, a vegetable farmer in Xiao'er Village, Songcun Town, planted 3 mu of tomatoes. Because she used biogas slurry for pest control and fertilization and relied entirely on manual labor for weeding, with no chemical fertilizer or pesticide pollution, this batch of tomatoes passed the municipal agriculture department's pollution-free agricultural product certification. This year, she has already sold more than 5,000 kg of tomatoes, selling each kg for 2 yuan more than last year.
Sui Jiangqiu told reporters that her pollution-free tomatoes have 6 trusses (fruit clusters), and she has already sold 4 trusses. During this period, vegetable prices have been very good, with tomatoes selling for 6.4 yuan per kg, bringing in more than 30,000 yuan. There are still more than 2 trusses of tomatoes left in the greenhouse, and they can be sold until mid-June.
As a key town for the city's vegetable production, Songcun Town has for many years been committed to developing pollution-free vegetable cultivation. Through methods such as establishing standardized production demonstration bases and setting up vegetable planting professional cooperatives, the town encourages and guides vegetable farmers to vigorously develop pollution-free vegetable cultivation. Staff from the town's vegetable station also frequently go into the fields to provide vegetable farmers with a series of services including technical training, production guidance, seedling supply, and vegetable sales. After several years of exploration and practice, Songcun Town has established and improved a complete set of planting mechanisms for standardized production of pollution-free vegetables. Last year, on the basis of the successful experience in standardized production base construction in previous years, the town further expanded the scale of standardized production base construction and successfully introduced new pesticide reduction control technology, effectively reducing the amount and usage of chemicals and improving the quality of agricultural products. The tomatoes, cucumbers, kidney beans, and celery produced at the town's standardized vegetable base have successively passed pollution-free agricultural product certification.
Yang Jinbao, a vegetable farmer in Xiao'er Village, said that the cucumbers he produces using pollution-free technology sell very well, at an average of 4 yuan per kg, all sold to large supermarkets in Weihai and Wendeng, and demand has consistently exceeded supply. According to Sun Zongrong, head of the Songcun Town vegetable station, the town's pollution-free vegetable planting area has now reached more than 20,000 mu, with 13 newly added pollution-free certified products and annual sales of pollution-free vegetables above 100,000 tons.
In recent years, to encourage vegetable farmers to carry out standardized production, Wendeng has issued reward measures for agricultural product certification and brand creation, giving rewards for pollution-free agricultural products, green food, and organic food that have passed national certification, and guiding various enterprises and cooperative organizations to actively apply for "three-product" certification. In addition, Wendeng has stepped up agricultural product quality testing and was the first in Weihai to build a city, town, and village three-level inspection and testing system for agricultural product quality and safety. At present, 12 agricultural professional cooperatives in the whole city have set up pesticide residue rapid testing rooms, and each town has also been equipped with a set of pesticide residue rapid testing equipment for testing agricultural products within the town. Zhang Yinlong, a member of the Longhui Vegetable Professional Cooperative in Songcun Town, told reporters that the vegetables purchased from ordinary people by their cooperative must undergo pesticide residue testing before entering the market. After testing, products that meet the testing standards can only enter the market after being labeled, while non-compliant products are all destroyed, ensuring that citizens can eat vegetables with peace of mind.
