Egg prices in many places break 5 yuan, the "rocket egg" market makes a comeback
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, egg prices across the country are "rising" everywhere. Although rising egg prices around the Mid-Autumn Festival have already become a trend every year, egg prices in Beijing, Hangzhou and other places have already broken 5 yuan/jin, while egg prices in Shenyang, Jinan, Lanzhou, Ningbo and other places have also approached the 5 yuan mark with an obvious upward trend, and "breaking 5" is almost a foregone conclusion as "rocket eggs" make a comeback. Some analyses point out that egg prices will continue to rise in the second half of the year but will not fluctuate sharply. According to the three-year operating cycle of laying hen production, 2011 was a peak year, indicating that laying hen prices in 2012 will not be too high.
The pace of egg price increases has clearly accelerated
According to monitoring data from the Ministry of Commerce, from August 13 to 19, retail egg prices rose 1.3% from the previous week, among which prices in Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Beijing rose 2.9%, 2.6% and 1.5% respectively from the previous week. According to monitoring by Xinhua News Agency's national agricultural and sideline products and agricultural input price quotation system, compared with the previous day, on August 22, the price of ordinary fresh eggs rose 0.8%.
A reporter learned from the agricultural products wholesale market that over the past month, the prices of boxed eggs and loose eggs have continued to rise. On August 23, the quotation for boxed eggs was 4.83 yuan/jin, up 18% from a month earlier; while loose eggs had already broken "5", with a quotation of 5.15 yuan/jin, up nearly 20% from a month earlier. From recent data, the prices of boxed eggs and loose eggs rose 10% and 7% respectively from seven days earlier, and the pace of price increases has clearly accelerated.
Since the beginning of this year, egg prices have repeatedly shown a "roller coaster" market. From late May to early June this year, national egg prices rose rapidly, reaching a peak level of 10 yuan/kg in mid-to-late June. After that, from mid-June to mid-July, egg prices kept falling, dropping to a low of 6.5 yuan/kg. After July, egg prices rose again, and since entering August the increase has continued to accelerate. At present, egg prices have rebounded to the highest level of the year.
Earning 100 yuan from a thousand chickens is worse than doing odd jobs
Egg prices have risen, but farmers are not happy. After egg prices rose, the purchase price at the place of origin was 4.1 yuan/jin. Feed prices rose to 1.43 yuan/jin. The daily feeding cost of 1 chicken is 0.314 yuan. Calculating on the basis that one laying hen produces 0.1 jin of eggs per day, that is to say, the production cost of 0.1 jin of eggs is 0.314 yuan. The production cost of 1 jin of eggs produced by 10 chickens is 3.14 yuan, earning only 1 yuan per jin.
