"Artificial computer" automated silkworm rearing machine debuts in Gaoping

China's first intelligent automated silkworm rearing machine has recently been successfully developed in Gaoping. The reporter learned from the Municipal Silk Spinning Office on the 4th that this technology, which has already applied for a national invention patent, will fill a gap in China's sericulture industry. Hu Zuozhong, director of the Facilities and Machinery Research Office of the National Sericulture Industry Technology Center, commented that this invention has explored a scientific path for improving the comparative efficiency of sericulture labor.

This automated silkworm rearing machine, developed by Nanchong Shouchuang Technology Development Company, overcomes the shortcomings of traditional silkworm rearing methods such as manual operation, high labor intensity, and low labor efficiency. Operated through an “artificial computer,” this intelligent automated silkworm rearing machine has the characteristic of enabling silkworms to grow in adaptation to the environment under different climatic conditions, and during the silkworm rearing process it automatically supplies mulberry leaves, disinfects, removes sand, and mounts cocooning frames. Calculations show that using this machine for sericulture, 1 laborer can rear 10 sheets of young silkworms and 100 sheets of mature silkworms. With traditional sericulture methods, 1 laborer can rear at most 2 sheets of young silkworms. Labor comparative efficiency shows that with traditional sericulture, 1 laborer can earn only thirty to forty yuan per day, while with automated sericulture, 1 laborer can earn more than 230 yuan per day.
