"Wealth-building advisors" are quietly gaining popularity in **Yumin Township
(Correspondent Li Mingsheng) These days, farmers in every village of **Yumin County are rushing to hire "science and technology advisors", "financial advisors", "remote advisors", "farm machinery advisors" and other consulting experts, making it the new fashion for farmers and herders to build wealth and manage their finances.
"Financial advisors" deliver technology
Early in the morning on May 5, Zhang Hua, a villager from Kalakemir Village in Chahantuohai Ranch, came to the county agricultural technology station and earnestly asked technician Wang Li to continue serving as his family's "science and technology advisor". Zhang Hua did not have much farming experience, and in 2012, an outbreak of safflower rust disease left him at his wits' end. He sought out technician Wang Li, who wrote him a "prescription", and sure enough, the problem was cured. Throughout the entire process from planting to harvest, Zhang Hua consulted Technician Wang every few days, and Technician Wang thus became his family's "science and technology advisor". Over the course of a year, Zhang Hua's income was one tenth more than in 2012, and his family's per capita income reached more than 8,000 yuan, which convinced him of the importance of farming with science and technology.
In the 2013 Yumin County agricultural technical service responsibility agreement, the "science and technology household project" was listed as the main focus, and the county's more than 30 agricultural technicians each gained a new identity as a "science and technology advisor". Each technician took on 20 farming households, focusing on 1-2 science and technology demonstration households, distilling techniques and putting new technologies into practice for farming households. From 2012 to now, "science and technology advisors" have gone deep into farming households and held more than 100 sessions of science and technology knowledge training, training 14,500 farmers (person-times).
"Financial advisors" deliver ideas
In recent years, with the development of the rural economy, many farmers have surplus money in hand, but, hampered by a lack of information and experience, they have kept putting their money in the bank. In view of this, Yumin County's financial departments organized and carried out "bringing finance into households" service activities, bringing the various kinds of financial knowledge, business concepts and wealth-building projects that farmer friends need most to the countryside, and "financial advisors" quietly emerged as a result.
Hu Tianrui of Beicun Village, Xindi Township, Yumin County, under the guidance of "financial advisor" Wang Shoutian, borrowed 20,000 yuan from the credit union and set up a rabbit breeding farm, realizing an income of 23,000 yuan that year. Since the beginning of spring, "financial advisors" have gone into villages and households to handle spring plowing loans for villagers, promptly solving the problem of difficulty in obtaining loans. As of now, the whole county has issued 230 million yuan in loans.
"Remote advisors" deliver information
"Remote advisors" have realized the dream of Yumin County's farmers and herders to "shop online". The county's 56 modern distance education sites for rural Party members and cadres are truly fulfilling their "shopping" function, benefiting more than 6,900 farming and herding households.
The distance education website site in Werta Dongcun Village, Jiye Ke Town, is always the liveliest place in the village. Through "remote advisors", everyone shops for policies, information and technology, and the relevant preferential agricultural policies have become the first choice for the whole village's residents when "shopping online".
"Remote advisors" enable everyone to keep timely track of the current types and market prices of seeds, chemical fertilizers and pesticides, as well as the models of various types of farm machinery, so that farmers and herders have a clear picture in mind for spring plowing production. In order to guarantee the operation of the distance education website sites and truly give play to their service function, the county uniformly covered the annual internet fees for all 56 modern distance education sites for rural Party members and cadres, and recruited 56 distance education operators countywide to manage the sites.
