Robots oxygenate and control the temperature of fish ponds; online fish farming is realized in Wuxing

“Yesterday a boss from Shandong called me, saying he wanted 15 million yellow catfish fry, and they need to be shipped in the next couple of days.”

At the Fengyi Aquaculture Base in the southern section of Balidian Town, Wuxing District, Huzhou City (Zhejiang Province's first pilot zone for institutional innovation in new rural construction), Ling Ganrong single-handedly “took on” the farming work for more than 1,000 mu of water surface.

It turns out he hired a group of robots connected to the internet, making online fish farming a reality.

“Look, this is the automatic feeder. At 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., it can work as long as you set the time on the computer.”

This afternoon, the “Beautiful Countryside Zhejiang Tour” national well-known online media interview group visited the Wuxing Fengyi Aquaculture Base that Ling Ganrong is in charge of.

In the operating room, the reporter saw a laptop and a projector. These are the “workers” of Old Ling's fish ponds.

The title displayed on the webpage is “Modern Agricultural Park Information Management Platform.” On the left is the real-time monitoring footage of the fish ponds, on the right are the standard reference values and actual values of various data for the fish ponds, and at the bottom are various control buttons.

“Look, right now the dissolved oxygen level in Pond No. 4 is 5.28 mg/L, and the standard value is 4 to 6 mg/L, so it is within this range. If it goes beyond this standard range, the equipment in the fish pond will run automatically,” Old Ling said.

In addition to oxygenation, temperature control and other work in the fish ponds can also be controlled through the internet, and can be switched between manual and automatic. Here, 360-degree probes, underwater sensors, aquaculture equipment, facility controllers, data lines, internet servers and terminals form a “smart fish pond.”

It is reported that this is the pilot project of Huzhou's first remote control system for aquaculture. The system was established with technical support provided by the School of Information and Engineering of Huzhou University and a Shanghai technology company, among others.

Through this system platform, farmers can not only achieve remote-controlled aquaculture, but also realize a series of functions such as remote inspection, remote consultation, e-commerce and agricultural materials distribution.

Old Ling calculated an account for the reporter: through this set of technology, the survival rate of fry is as high as 99.6%, and 30% more fry can be raised, while the per-mu yield is also more than 30% higher than the district average. Based on the 1 million yuan investment in this system, the full cost can be recovered in one year.

It is understood that Wuxing District's aquaculture industry relies mainly on the Zhejiang Institute of Freshwater Fisheries and Huzhou University for technical support, establishes a special aquatic products industry sub-alliance, and by improving the infrastructure and ecological environment of aquaculture areas, applying modern production facilities and equipment, carrying out the introduction and breeding of new varieties, and promoting advanced and applicable aquaculture technology and ecological circular aquaculture models, achieves an average per-mu benefit of 5,000 yuan in the aquaculture demonstration zone, with the per-mu benefit of fry breeding reaching as much as 12,000 yuan.
