Pig prices have rebounded recently, and pig farmers are gradually starting to make a profit
On the morning of June 6, Meng Xiangqin, a pig farmer from Shandong Village, Songcun Town, came to his own farm to feed the pigs that were about to be sent to market. What delighted him was that the few pigs he had recently sold all went for 7.5 yuan per jin, earning him more than 300 yuan per pig. Over the past 3 weeks, the pig purchase price in Wendeng has shown a clear upward trend, and farmers can earn at least 200 yuan from selling one pig.
"The market was at its worst in March and April this year, and the highest purchase price never reached 7 yuan per jin." Yesterday, Wu Jungang, the person in charge of a farm in Wujiatan Village, Houjia Town, told reporters that in early May, the pig purchase price was still fluctuating between 6.6 and 6.8 yuan per jin; in mid-to-late May, it suddenly rose to 7.2 yuan per jin, and over the following 20-plus days, the purchase price began to gradually rebound. At present, the pig purchase price is about 7.5 to 7.8 yuan per jin.
"Selling one pig now earns at least 200 yuan." During interviews, many pig farmers said this. According to a farmer in Lingshang Wangjia Village, Dashuipo Town, the prepared feed now costs 1.4 to 1.5 yuan per jin, basically unchanged from before, while pig prices are rebounding, ensuring that pig farmers can make a profit.
That morning, several buyers came to Meng Xiangqin's farm, but Meng Xiangqin told them to come back in a few days. "Most of the pigs have already grown to 200 jin, but I want to see whether the price will rise further," Meng Xiangqin said.
"Since May, it has been very difficult for us to buy pigs." According to a person in charge of a meat processing enterprise in Wendeng, although the pig purchase price undergoes a cyclical rebound at this time every year, the recent price rebound has been very rapid, rising almost every day, and many farmers have begun to hold back from selling.
A reporter visited some farmers' markets and supermarkets in the urban area and found that pork prices have also begun to rise slightly. In one supermarket, the price of lean meat is about 14 yuan per jin, and the price of premium pork belly is about 13 yuan per jin, up 4% and 13% respectively compared with two months ago. Staff said that with the approach of the Dragon Boat Festival, pork prices may rise slightly further.
According to netizens on Zhue.com, the rebound in pig prices has been affected by multiple factors. In addition to reduced market supply and farmers holding back from selling, the recent launch of the national pig reserve policy is also one of the reasons; combined with the approaching Dragon Boat Festival, consumer demand is increasing, which may push pig prices higher in the short term.
