Autumn and winter vegetable cultivation becomes a new favorite for farmers in Zhongshan to get rich

Recently, the author visited Wang Yongdong, a large-scale autumn and winter vegetable grower in Fengxiang Town, Zhongshan County. This year, Wang Yongdong planted more than 100 mu of autumn and winter vegetables such as Chinese cabbage, mustard greens and winter bamboo shoots, all of which are contract farming in cooperation with a boss from Fujian. He told the author that this year he also planted 120 mu of grain crops, and the net income could reach several hundred thousand yuan. Because the grain fields are all rented, with a one-year lease, after the rice harvest, in order not to let the fields lie idle, he planted autumn and winter vegetables.

It is understood that Fengxiang Town has now planted more than 3,000 mu of characteristic autumn and winter vegetables such as Chinese cabbage, mustard greens, winter bamboo shoots and lettuce, an increase of more than 1,000 mu over last year, and it is expected that the benefit of autumn and winter vegetable cultivation will increase by 1,500 yuan per mu.

Through the "four-wheel drive" approach of departmental organization and mobilization, enterprise-farmer linkage, demonstration model leadership and policy subsidy promotion, the county has actively guided farmers to vigorously develop autumn and winter vegetable cultivation. Relying on leading enterprises to create demonstration bases, it adopts the "company + base + farmer" production and operation model, forming a one-stop service for the production, supply and marketing of autumn and winter vegetables. At present, the county has established 3 thousand-mu autumn and winter vegetable demonstration bases in Huilong Dongzhai Village, Wushisan Gong in Longjing Village of Zhongshan Town, and Yingjia Village of Qingtang Town; the whole county has completed an autumn and winter vegetable planting area of 123,000 mu. Calculated at an average output value of 5,000 yuan per mu, the total output value is expected to reach more than 600 million yuan, and autumn and winter vegetable cultivation has become a "new favorite" for local farmers to get rich.
