Changfeng strawberry brand value has exceeded 1.5 billion yuan
On August 17, the Changfeng County Strawberry Association in Anhui Province received the “2013 China Regional Public Brand Value Assessment Certificate for Agricultural Products” sent by the China Agricultural Products Regional Public Brand Value Assessment Research Group. The certificate confirms that the “Changfeng strawberry” brand had reached a value of 1.53 billion yuan in 2013, ranking second in the country in strawberry brand value.
“Changfeng strawberry” is a national-level “geographical indication” agricultural product of Hefei City. After more than 20 years of sustained development, the Changfeng strawberry industry has become a new pillar industry of agriculture in Changfeng County. Last year, Changfeng County's strawberry planting area reached 195,000 mu, making it the largest county in the country for protected strawberry cultivation, with an average output value of 23,000 yuan per mu, an average net income of 15,000 yuan per mu, total output reaching 350,000 tons, and output value exceeding 4.5 billion yuan. The county has nearly 80,000 strawberry-growing households, 170,000 people employed in the industry, and about 350,000 farmers benefiting from it.
Changfeng County attaches great importance to cultivating the “Changfeng strawberry” brand and has successively issued a series of policies to support the development of the strawberry industry. The county finance department allocates 5 million yuan each year, focused on rewards for the selection of strawberry production and operation entities, subsidies for the breeding and experimental demonstration of high-quality strawberry seedlings, and subsidies for agricultural product quality and safety testing. In July this year, Changfeng County also issued the “Implementation Rules for the Reward and Subsidy Policy for the Introduction, Cultivation, and Seedling Breeding of New Strawberry Varieties in Changfeng County”, clarifying the conditions for rewards and subsidies for the introduction and cultivation of new varieties as well as additional rewards and subsidies, thereby promoting policy implementation.
Starting in 2010, Changfeng County began applying to participate in the China Regional Public Brand Value Assessment for Agricultural Products, and that year the brand value was assessed at 559 million yuan. Three years later, the county again applied to participate in the China Regional Public Brand Value Assessment for Agricultural Products, and the “Changfeng strawberry” brand value reached 1.53 billion yuan, an increase of nearly 1 billion yuan compared with 2010.
