1-hour urban eco-agriculture circle to be piloted in 6 cities in Henan
Xinhua News Agency, Zhengzhou, October 3 (Reporter Li Yanan) Henan, a major agricultural province, has decided to carry out pilot projects in 6 cities including Zhengzhou, Kaifeng and Luoyang, exploring the development of urban eco-agriculture circles to provide urban residents with places and conditions to get in touch with nature, experience agriculture, and enjoy sightseeing and leisure.
The General Office of the Henan Provincial Government recently issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of Urban Eco-Agriculture Across the Province." According to the opinions, Henan Province has designated 6 cities - Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang, Xuchang, Xinxiang and Jiaozuo - to take the lead in carrying out pilot projects and explore a path for developing urban eco-agriculture.
Henan Province has proposed implementing a central city-driven strategy, building a 1-hour urban eco-agriculture circle in the above 6 cities, with a focus on developing high-efficiency agriculture such as exhibition agriculture, creative agriculture and facility agriculture; vigorously developing leisure and sightseeing agriculture, doing a good job in creating leisure and sightseeing agriculture demonstration parks and building premium routes, protecting ancient villages, ancient dwellings, ancient and famous trees and rural landscapes, and striving to cultivate a number of key agricultural tourism attractions with distinctive themes and prominent features, such as citizen farms, residential farmsteads, folk-custom sightseeing villages and agricultural parks. At the same time, leisure agriculture and rural tourism infrastructure will be improved, and a recreation belt around the cities will be built.
According to the reporter's understanding, among the 6 cities, Luoyang has already taken the lead in developing urban eco-agriculture. The city currently has a total of 938 urban eco-agriculture projects, employing 38,000 people, with annual operating revenue of 2.6 billion yuan.
According to the requirements, Henan Province will also certify a number of provincial-level urban eco-agriculture demonstration zones and actively create national-level and provincial-level leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration sites. At the same time, it will further promote the development of creative agriculture, pay attention to the protection of well-known brands, and strengthen the standardized management of geographical indications and famous trademarks.
