Hainan agricultural products online sales expected to reach 6 billion yuan, experts: logistics is key

In the first quarter of this year, Hainan's online sales of agricultural products reached 1.5 billion yuan, and the full-year sales are expected to reach 6 billion yuan. To better promote e-commerce operational experience and facilitate the e-commerce transformation of traditional Hainan enterprises, the first Hainan Agricultural E-commerce Summit Forum was held in Haikou on the afternoon of December 1.

Renowned domestic experts, corporate CEOs and entrepreneurial leaders gathered to hold a series of dialogues on topics such as how to view innovation in Hainan's agriculture. Some experts believe that the path to a breakthrough for Hainan's agriculture lies in agricultural e-commerce development paying attention to product quality and logistics speed.

Du Wencai, dean of the College of Information Science and Technology at Hainan University, believes that the first step toward success in Hainan's agricultural e-commerce development is product quality standards. A sound logistics chain is crucial to the development of Hainan's agricultural e-commerce, and logistics distribution is the third step toward success in Hainan's agricultural e-commerce development, after integrity.

Zhang Yanbing, general manager of SF Express's Hainan region, said that for the development of Hainan's fresh products, logistics is the key breakthrough point. Only by increasing logistics speed and reducing logistics costs to the minimum can products be profitable.

Yuan Yue, chairman of Horizon Research Consultancy Group, proposed a new direction for the exploration of Hainan's agricultural e-commerce development. He believes that Hainan's agriculture should pursue breakthroughs in individual product categories, communicate more with consumers, and that finding the fun that consumers expect is key. The development of the mobile internet has brought new opportunities to Hainan's agricultural e-commerce, so Hainan's agricultural e-commerce must constantly change and innovate.

The forum was supported by the Hainan Provincial Department of Agriculture, the Hainan Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Hainan E-commerce Association. In addition to 50 outstanding local e-commerce enterprises attending, there were also 400 e-commerce industry figures and professional audience members, who together shared e-commerce operational experience and explored the path to success in agricultural e-commerce.
