Developing "e-commerce villages" to sell sweaters online

Report by our journalist Liu Guting. How do you do business "online"? Nowadays it is not only a hot topic of discussion among people in cities, but also a new path for young people in rural areas to start businesses. Yesterday morning, many young people in Longtou Village, Longhu District, hoped to use the training organized by the Longhu District Government and the Municipal Internet Association to learn about and explore integrating the village's traditional industries into the emerging e-commerce sector, so as to expand product sales channels while building their own brands.

Waisha Town in Longhu District currently has two major distinctive industries with Chaoshan characteristics: woolen knitwear and agricultural and sideline product processing. In particular, the Chaoshan-style craft woolen knitwear industry is an important economic pillar of Waisha Town and has also become an economic brand renowned at home and abroad. Longtou Village is an important sweater production base in Waisha Town. However, "doing business and selling products online" is still unfamiliar to most villagers. Centering on the village's economic model and the villagers' aspirations for development, and aiming to build an "e-commerce village," the Waisha Town Government has given full support and actively sought support from the Municipal Internet Association to help Longtou Village plan and develop an "e-commerce village."

On the 4th of this month, the Municipal Internet Association organized member units including the Suning.com e-commerce platform and Zhongxun Vocational Skills Training School to carry out e-commerce village planning for Longtou Village and provide training and education in various e-commerce application skills for enterprises and villagers in the village. At the same time, the Municipal Internet Association and the Longtou Village E-commerce Association of Waisha Town, Longhu District, also signed a framework agreement on assistance and cooperation to help and promote the construction of Longtou Village's "e-commerce village" free of charge, and to provide guidance and assistance for publicity, promotion and planning development for Longtou's "e-commerce village."

The reporter learned that Longhu District will next, through Longtou Village's practice of using e-commerce to drive the transformation and upgrading of village industries, explore an "e-commerce village" model that can be promoted and replicated in townships and villages, so that township and village enterprises can go against the current in increasingly fierce and standardized market competition, realize the upgrading and replacement of traditional industries, and, while promoting production and sales of village enterprises and improving villagers' living standards, also become an innovative highlight in Shantou's effort to build a model city for e-commerce.
