Yuan Guocheng, who lives in Group 19 of Wanxin Village, Chengbei Subdistrict, Rugao City, is a university graduate and now a farmer. By changing traditional planting methods and adopting entirely new ideas, he has forged a path to prosperity through science and technology that integrates innovation with agriculture.
It is understood that Yuan Guocheng has a total of 23 vegetable greenhouses in Group 19 and Group 22 of Wanxin Village, Chengbei Subdistrict, Rugao City. Every night at 10 o'clock he rides an electric tricycle to Chengbei Market to deliver vegetables, sometimes not finishing until 4 o'clock the next morning. Yuan Guocheng has grown used to this hardship.
According to Yuan Guocheng, since childhood the farmland outside the village has been his “playground”. Looking at the lush green wheat fields and the figures of farmers working in the fields, this scene filled Yuan Guocheng with delight. A graduate of Nantong University, Yuan Guocheng accidentally discovered the business opportunity of growing vegetables in greenhouses. Yuan Guocheng felt that a nine-to-five job every day was not as good as facing future challenges himself. Now, he regards the vegetable greenhouses as a production workshop, the vegetables grown are the products produced, and land resources are unlimited. Growing vegetables and going to work are merely different in form.
A perfectly good university graduate willingly coming back to farm made Yuan Guocheng's parents extremely worried. After several rounds of persuasion and much talk about the bright prospects of modern agriculture, his parents tacitly accepted it. Then a new problem arose: for vegetable greenhouses, who would invest? Hard work pays off, and by raising money from various sources and seeking advice from experienced elders, Yuan Guocheng finally built the vegetable greenhouses.
Speaking of the vegetable greenhouses, Yuan Guocheng seemed very excited. Now that he has greenhouses, not only has the yield increased, but vegetables can be grown all year round. In Yuan Guocheng's greenhouses, two kinds of vegetables are grown, garland chrysanthemum and celery, which can supply the market for a long time without any interruption in supply.
