Wang Guihua: Never forgetting her neighbors on the road to prosperity

A national advanced individual in contributions to women's posts in urban and rural areas, a provincial science-popularization leader in the program to benefit farmers and invigorate villages, and a top woman achiever in the rural women's "double learning, double competing" campaign... The person who holds all these "titles" is an ordinary villager from Yixin Village, Tiechang Town, Erdaojiang District, and president of the Erdaojiang District Women's Edible Fungi Association, Wang Guihua. Although she has experienced many hardships, her hard work has brought her the fruits of hope and helped her realize her own value in life.

With strong support from the local Party committee and government, Wang Guihua established the Erdaojiang District Women's Edible Fungi Association and Guihua Edible Fungi Planting Co., Ltd., adopting a new production and operation model of "company + association + farmers + base" to achieve integration of "production, supply and sales." Because of the association's strong driving capacity, it was approved by the local Party committee to establish an edible fungi association Party branch; because the association has made outstanding achievements in the process of popularizing science to benefit farmers, it was named a science-popularization service station for benefiting farmers by the municipal science and technology association, and Wang Guihua was also hired by the municipal science and technology association as a member of the Tonghua City Rural Practical Technology Expert Service Team. At present, Wang Guihua already has 2 production bases and 1 cultivation base, covering an area of more than 30,000 sq m, making it a multifunctional base specializing in edible fungi cultivation technology development, strain selection, demonstration and application promotion, and primary processing and sales. Its products are sold across more than ten provinces and cities, and are also exported to South Korea, Japan and other places. Membership has grown to more than 3,600 households, and members' economic benefits are more than 30% higher than those of ordinary farmers.

Although Wang Guihua has become wealthy, she has not forgotten her fellow villagers. To help them learn cultivation techniques for edible fungi such as black fungus, yuan mushroom and oyster mushroom, she wrote the experience she had accumulated over many years into a booklet and gave it to growers free of charge, providing free follow-up guidance throughout the cultivation process. She also paid out of her own pocket to subscribe to science-popularization books and video materials on edible fungi cultivation techniques, and when problems arose she spent her own money to invite experts to hold training classes, helping farmers answer questions, solve difficulties and providing door-to-door guidance. The "science-popularization service station for benefiting farmers" under her management has achieved online sales and the dissemination of science knowledge and market information trends, changing the situation of information scarcity in rural areas. She has persisted in introducing and developing new varieties, phasing out inferior ones, and achieving a new situation of shared benefits, developing one household and making one household prosperous.
