Yang Dake: Top student brings his girlfriend back to the village to "farm", determined to help villagers get rich

In 2005, Yang Dake registered the first brand in Wuliang Mountain, the "Dake Brand" crystal pear.

More than 10 years ago, Wuliang Village in Shuangtu Town, Yunyang County, Chongqing, was the poorest mountain village in Yunyang County, with a per capita annual income of less than 300 yuan. Today, on Wuliang Mountain at an altitude of more than 1000 m, pear trees cover the mountains and fields, and the villagers have tasted the "sweetness" of planting pear trees one after another, with per capita income increasing by more than 5000 yuan, and every household has built a small Western-style house. All of this is because of Yang Dake, who graduated from Sichuan University and gave up a job in the city to return to the village to lead the villagers in getting rich and starting businesses. In 2006, this top student was named one of the "Top Ten People Who Moved Chongqing.

Yang Dake was not the first college student in the village, but he was the first to give up a job in the city and return to the village to start a business.

In 1999, Yang Dake graduated from the Department of Applied Electronics at Sichuan University and was immediately hired by a communications company in Chengdu. Leaving the mountains and jumping out of the "farm gate" is the lifelong dream of many children from the mountains. Just when his family was happy that he could put down roots in the city, Yang Dake decided to resign and return to his hometown to start a business.

Yang Dake visited Longquanyi in Chengdu many times. The distinctive sightseeing agriculture there opened his eyes. He thought of what his grandfather had said: the poorer and more backward a place is, the more it needs technology and talent. His grandfather, who graduated from the Department of Agriculture at Wuhan University before liberation, had returned to his hometown to plant pear trees, and the family still has dozens of mu of pear orchard. Now that national policies are so good, why not go back to his hometown and build something?

Yang Dake returned to his hometown again to be a farmer, and gossip immediately sprang up everywhere. Yang Dake paid no attention at all. During the day, he and his parents went up the mountain to clear wasteland, pull weeds, and dig planting holes; at night, he held books and taught himself pear tree planting techniques. A month later, the barren slope behind the mountain had been reclaimed. Yang Dake dragged his father along, borrowed more than 50000 yuan from relatives and friends, traveled to more than ten provinces and cities including Hunan, Beijing, and Jilin, introduced more than 300 pear tree varieties, and was determined to take a gamble

In 2003, pear tree planting in Wuliang Village began to take shape, reaching an area of 2000 mu, and fruit wholesalers lined up to come to buy.

In 2005, Yang Dake registered the first brand in Wuliang Mountain, the "Dake Brand" crystal pear, and also founded the Yunyang County Crystal Pear Professional Cooperative, calling on fellow villagers to join.

In July 2006, the first thing Yang Dake did after joining the Party was to pass on planting techniques to the villagers. Yang Dake initiated the founding of the Yunyang County Large-Fruit Crystal Pear Professional Cooperative, signed cooperation agreements with nearby villagers in the form of guaranteed survival, guaranteed technology, and guaranteed buyback, and led the villagers to get rich.

Today, Yang Dake is now the president of the Yunyang County Federation of Rural Cooperative Economic Organizations. "The village has developed quite well in recent years!" Yang Dake said. The Yunyang County Large-Fruit Crystal Pear Professional Cooperative has already driven 476 households of villagers to develop pear trees. Wuliang Mountain has grown from the initial 288 mu of pear tree land to 32000 mu of orchard land, with annual sales of more than 12 million.

Last year, the Yunyang County Federation of Rural Cooperative Economic Organizations was established, building a platform for farmers to share resources and information.
