900 women in Deliqir Township get rich by raising geese
"Look at my geese, every one of them is plump and sturdy, with an average weight of over 7 jin, and the biggest ones weigh more than ten jin." Recently, the second batch of 4,000 white geese raised by Zheng Jimei of Deliqir Village in Deliqir Township was ready for market, and out-of-town buyers drove trucks to her home to purchase them.
Zheng Jimei is a well-knowngoose-raisingexpert in Deliqir Township. In 2010 she set up the Quanshun White Goose Breeding Cooperative and successively built 10 standardized goose houses. Over the past few years, with the support of the Banner Women's Federation's small guaranteed loans for women's entrepreneurship, the cooperative has continuously expanded its breeding scale, spreading its influence and helping surrounding residentsraise geeseand get rich, and it has been designated by the township party committee and government as a demonstration base for women's entrepreneurship.
Zheng Jimei, whose goose-raising experience grew ever richer, also became more and more nimble-minded. This year, after her first batch of 10,000 white geese was raised and sent to market, she went to surrounding banners and counties to buy 4,000 large geese that local goose raisers could not afford to keep because their skills or funds fell short, and brought them home for fattening. After more than 20 days, this batch of fattened geese had grown from more than 5 jin at the time to more than 7 jin when sent to market. "Fattening geese is very worthwhile. They can be sent to market in less than a month, and the profit per goose can reach nearly 10 yuan. At the end of May I raised one batch that went to market in three months, then fattened another batch that went to market in just over 20 days. I did not waste any of the season best suited to raising geese. Selling at 8 yuan per jin, I made a net profit of 160,000 to 170,000 yuan this year from raising geese alone." Zheng Jimei said happily. This ordinary rural woman has truly mastered the wealth-making lore of raising geese. So far she has successfully led nearly 900 households in the township to raise 310,000 geese, greatly increasing farmers' incomes and walking with her sisters on the road to prosperity.
