Dabie Mountains locals get rich selling quality agricultural products online, products reach the whole country
Under the winter sun, the street of Shuhe Village, Baishenmiao Town, Shucheng County was bustling with people coming and going, and a crowd was gathered around the small stall of farmer Huang Bin. This disabled man, who has cerebral palsy, has become a well-known local "Taobao expert" since he opened a village Taobao station; whenever villagers want to buy something novel and practical, they all come to him. Huang Bin excitedly told the reporter: "Just this past 'Double Eleven', in one day I helped villagers buy all kinds of goods worth 140,000 yuan, including speakers, furniture, clothes, everything. I earned 3,000 yuan in commission. Without the internet, I wouldn't even dare to imagine it."
Today, in the vast countryside of Lu'an, stories like Huang Bin's happen every day. The village Taobao stations established by Shucheng County in cooperation with Taobao have already covered all townships and more than 50% of villages. Yu Ziwen, deputy director of the Lu'an Municipal Bureau of Commerce, told the reporter that Huoshan, Jinzhai and Shucheng counties were selected among the first batch of national comprehensive demonstration counties for e-commerce entering rural areas. In 2014, Lu'an had more than 8,400 e-commerce entities, with annual e-commerce sales of 4.2 billion yuan, and this year it will rise sharply again. In Huoshan County alone, there are more than 500 e-commerce enterprises engaged in the sale of specialty agricultural products, with more than 4,000 employees, directly and indirectly helping more than 10,000 people increase their incomes and get rich.
Relying on e-commerce, the quality agricultural products of the Dabie Mountains are reaching the whole country. On November 13, the reporter came to the Shucheng Huiwang Online E-commerce Industrial Park, which was bustling with activity.
In early September, Alibaba launched the large-scale order agriculture online sales campaign "Cloud Rural Areas - Group New Year Pigs to Enjoy the Taste of the New Year." Shucheng County stood out from more than 20 initially selected counties across the country, and Huiwang Online undertook the online sales. General Manager Sun Long introduced that in this campaign Shucheng County had already sold 3,500 black-haired pigs, with sales amounting to 12 million yuan, and many farming households had already planned to raise black-haired pigs on a large scale.
Huoshan's lilies once suffered from good harvests but low prices; through e-commerce sales, their value began to rise sharply. The reporter came to the lily delivery and settlement operation center set up in Huoshan by the Bohai Commodity Exchange. Now this place has become the country's largest operating platform for lily products, with a daily transaction volume of 300 million yuan.
The relevant person in charge introduced that after Dabie Mountains lilies "got online," each kilogram could increase in price by 8 yuan, greatly increasing the income of farmers in the mountainous areas.
Relying on e-commerce, farmers have become the main body of entrepreneurship and innovation. Guowan Village, Nangang Town, Shucheng County, using major websites such as JD.com and Taobao, carried out member private customization and subscription activities for organic agricultural products. They launched the project "Have one mu of selenium-rich field at home, the whole family eats selenium-rich rice," with one mu of selenium-rich rice subscribed for 3,888 yuan, and by the end of September this year buyers had already subscribed 432 mu of land. At the Lugu Agricultural Ecological Park in Yu'er Street Town, Huoshan County, the company's person in charge pointed to the greenhouses and plots of land one by one and told the reporter that these greenhouses and plots with names written on them were all sold online. What you plant is up to you; after organic agricultural products, fruits and vegetables are picked, they can be delivered directly to your dining table. Whatever you cannot consume, the company is responsible for helping you sell it online, charging only a reasonable commission. At present, more than 300 mu of land in this industrial park is operated in this way. Local farmers get one income from transferring land, and another income from the company hiring them to plant and raise livestock, with income more than doubling compared with before.
E-commerce has changed the production and life of farmers in the old revolutionary base areas. The relevant person in charge of Jinzhai County introduced that, relying on the "Three Farmers E-commerce Co., Ltd." established in the county, farmers in Jinzhai County have adopted a combination of online promotion and offline sales, and have already formed an agricultural product production and marketing ecological chain of "production base + e-commerce platform + direct sales center." At present, Jinzhai has 76 planting and breeding production bases, with 2,700 contracted farming households, and farmers are escaping poverty and getting rich by relying on the keyboard.
