He develops a farming business from a wheelchair while also doing volunteer work

Jiang Yongzhong is the legal representative of the Longnan Volunteer Alliance in Gansu Province, and he is a self-reliant and brave young man with a disability. Because of polio, his lower limbs are paralyzed and weak; he walks with an electric wheelchair and crutches, and needs others' help to go upstairs. Despite being a person with limited mobility, he has nonetheless succeeded in aquaculture and persists in helping others.

The Longnan Volunteer Alliance frequently keeps in contact with well-known domestic charitable organizations such as the "One Foundation" initiated and organized by Jet Li, and carries out relief activities in Longnan. "Taking part in these relief activities makes me feel that life is fulfilling," Jiang Yongzhong said. In 2010, Jiang Yongzhong, then just over 30 years old, began growing tea, developing Chinese medicinal herbs and raising fish in Yuhe Township, Wudu District, and through arduous entrepreneurship realized his dream of becoming prosperous. Looking back on his entrepreneurial history, Jiang Yongzhong's spirit of unremitting self-improvement is quite moving. After graduating from junior high school in 1995, he studied electrical appliance repair, worked as a self-employed trader for three years repairing PHS phones and mobile phones, went to Beijing in 2008, and worked as a repairman in Zhongguancun for more than 2 years; because eating and living away from home were inconvenient, he returned home to start a business. In March 2010, he began raising giant salamanders in Yuhe Township, Wudu District, and in 5 years developed to a scale of selling more than 1,000 tails per year. He also rented more than 30 mu of land, built fish ponds imitating the original ecology, continuously expanded the scale, and registered Longnan Yufeng Breeding Development Co., Ltd. He also developed Chinese medicinal herbs, planted Gastrodia elata and Polyporus umbellatus, and developed a 10-mu fungal spawn breeding base. He registered the Wudu Yuhe Yufeng Chinese Medicinal Herb Planting Professional Cooperative, with more than 200 members. In Shangguojia Village, Dongjiang, he purchased a 1-mu 2-fen foundation site and built a five-story small building.

In October 2014, the Longnan Volunteer Alliance carried out an activity to donate cotton quilts and clothing to the people of Pingya Tibetan Township. The people of Pingya Third Village, living on the mountain ridge, were harvesting and threshing buckwheat and soybeans, and when they saw the kind volunteers delivering clothing and quilts, they appeared extremely happy. An old lama received a cotton quilt and praised the good deeds of the volunteer alliance: "What we seek is exactly this kind of gratitude and happiness won through warmth." Most of the expenses of the volunteer alliance's activities are paid by Jiang Yongzhong. The annual expenditure is more than 10,000 yuan. The volunteer alliance has a children's group, an elderly group, an emergency disaster relief group, and an information reporting group, with 460 basic members. It is a partner of the Gansu Disaster Relief Alliance and also a partner of the "One Foundation." The "One Foundation" has so far provided more than 2,000 warmth packages and 800,000 yuan worth of clothing, and Jiang Yongzhong promptly organized personnel to send them to impoverished families in the mountain areas. The Longnan Volunteer Alliance carries out old clothing collection and donation activities in the urban area, and over 3 years collected more than 10,000 pieces of old clothing, which were given to impoverished families in mountain areas such as Hanwang and Longfeng.

As early as 1997, Jiang Yongzhong was already helping left-behind children in the impoverished mountain areas of Longnan in his own name. In 1998, caring volunteers from Zhenjiang, Jiangsu and Shaowu, Fujian launched an activity to donate cotton shoes to left-behind children in the mountain areas of Longnan, and planned to find someone in Wudu to assist with distribution, but at that time Wudu still had no such civil society organization, so Jiang Yongzhong volunteered and took on the task of sending relief clothing. On one occasion, 178 sets of winter cotton shoes and cotton socks were sent to 28 students at Dangjiashan Primary School in Wuku Township, Wudu District, Longnan City, and 150 students at Xizhi Primary School in Luotang Town. He donated a mobile phone and 1,000 yuan to a substitute teacher at a primary school. In recent years, the Longnan Volunteer Alliance has registered and catalogued more than 1,000 impoverished elderly people in Yuhe Township, Wudu District, Longnan City, and on the occasion of the New Year, gave each of these elderly people a set of new cotton clothing and cotton shoes.

After the Longnan City Children's Welfare Institute was established, the volunteer alliance was again among the first to send the living supplies the children needed, and went there many times to play and have fun with the children, giving the children spiritual comfort...

The Longnan Volunteer Alliance once assisted the Gansu Disaster Relief Alliance in sending 10 tons of clothing to impoverished households in the mountain areas; these clothes helped more than 5,000 impoverished families. Jiang Yongzhong said. Recently, volunteers of the Longnan Volunteer Alliance and Futian collected more than 2,000 pieces of clothing and donated them to impoverished people in Longfeng Mountain, Wudu District. "Doing public welfare requires wholehearted devotion; only by doing public welfare with your heart will you experience the joy of giving. Only when more people join public welfare and help others when they need help will others be willing to help you when you are in difficulty." (Longnan Municipal Party Committee Reporting Group)
