No more renovation: returning home to start a business, father and son team up to "reel in the gold" from shrimp fields

A former renovation business owner, faced with the current sluggish renovation market, resolutely returned to his hometown to change careers, transferred land there, and took up aquaculture. A few days ago, when this writer came to Leyangqiao Village, Tonglv Town, Lezhi County, 41-year-old Yang Qing was inspecting the growth of the crayfish in the shrimp field together with his father.

A lean and capable build and an honest smile - that was the first impression Yang Qing left on this writer. "This year, business in the construction and renovation industries has been very sluggish." Speaking of his original intention to return home and start a business, Yang Qing said, "Rather than sit around waiting for business to come to me, I might as well do something else."

In July this year, Yang Qing returned to his hometown of Leyangqiao Village, Tonglv Town. Looking at the barren land in his hometown, the idea of returning home to start a business sprouted in the bottom of his heart.

"Say it and it's settled, decide it and do it!" Influenced by relatives, in early August this year, Yang Qing returned to his hometown once again, actively negotiated with the town government and village committee and received strong support, and initially transferred more than 40 mu of farmland for farming crayfish.

Yang Qing's move to return home and start a business received strong support from his father. Old Mr. Yang said, "If my son can build a career in his hometown, as a father, how could I not support him?" After the land transfer was completed, father and son called on the villagers to work together to level the field plots, build up the field ridges, and set up anti-escape nets...

In mid-August, Yang Qing introduced crayfish seedlings from a friend who was engaged in aquaculture, and began his entrepreneurial path. During the day, father and son shuttled back and forth in the fields, busy managing the shrimp fields; at night, Yang Qing studied farming techniques diligently online.

Beside Yang Qing's shrimp field, this writer saw that the freshly caught crayfish were large and lively, with a rosy luster, and the largest crayfish was close to 2 liang. "The crayfish now can only satisfy the major restaurants and night beer markets in the county seat and surrounding areas, and the average wholesale price is 20 yuan/jin." In his spare time, Yang Qing often conducted market surveys and found that the local market prospects in Lezhi were quite considerable.

As of now, Yang Qing has invested nearly 100,000 yuan. As for the future, he is full of confidence: "The market demand for crayfish is large, and they reproduce quickly, require little investment, and show results quickly. After ecological free-range crayfish farming gets on track, the net profit per mu should be around 15,000 yuan."

Next, Yang Qing plans to continue expanding the farming scale, further broaden the sales channels for crayfish, further beautify the farming base and its surrounding environment, and while planning to develop a crayfish fishing pond, also drive the surrounding ordinary people to participate in crayfish farming together, and invigorate the village's economy.
