Migrant worker returns home to start a business, leading villagers to prosperity and a moderately comfortable life
Recently, this writer visited the Yi Family Quail Farm in Yuqing Village, Qifeng Town, Luxian County, Luzhou. What came into view were rows upon rows of neatly arranged quail breeding cages, in which stood little brown-gray quails with speckled markings, looking truly adorable.

Yi Kui, who had roamed the world outside for many years, previously worked in interior decoration engineering, but he had harbored the dream of starting his own business since childhood. Later, after a friend's suggestion and after on-site inspections and careful consideration, Yi Kui set his sights on these little quails that could lay "golden ingots." Returning home at the beginning of this year, Yi Kui used his years of savings and jointly invested with his uncle Yi Qiquan to set up the Yi Family Quail Farm, and the entire quail farm was placed under Yi Kui's charge. With the help of the Qifeng Town government, Yi Kui relied on the area's unique ecological environment and invested a total of more than 40,000 yuan to build a quail farm of more than 700 sq m.
"Quail eggs are good, highly nutritious, in short supply on the market, and quail farming has good prospects," Yi Kui said. After founding the Yi Family Quail Farm, Yi Kui continually learned new quail farming knowledge and rearing techniques through exchanges with peers and his own exploration, and soon the farming scale grew from the initial more than 20,000 quails to the current more than 40,000. According to Yi Kui, the quail farm currently has 42,000 quails on hand, with quail egg output of more than 400 jin per day. When the second batch of quails begins laying, daily quail egg output can reach more than 800 jin, and may even reach 1,000 jin per day. At the same time, they vigorously promote self-production and self-sales; most of the farm's quail eggs are sold to Luzhou city proper, Luxian County and other surrounding areas, and they have already built a stable customer base and sales channels.
Yi Kui told this writer with a smile that in the future he will continue to improve the infrastructure and epidemic prevention facilities and strengthen the management of the farm. If other villagers are interested, he will provide technical training and guidance free of charge, leading villagers to prosperity and a moderately comfortable life together.
