Direct release for vegetables supplied to Macao, China has been implemented in Zhongshan, Guangdong
Recently, 11 transport vehicles carrying nearly 70 tons of fresh vegetables supplied to Macao, China were directly declared and released at the Zhuhai Gongbei Port on the strength of the "Exit Goods Clearance Certificate" issued by the Zhongshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. This smooth customs clearance marks that vegetables supplied to Macao, China from Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, have implemented direct export release.

Zhongshan is adjacent to Macao, China, and is an important production base for Macao, China's agricultural product import market. Vegetables supplied to Macao, China from Zhongshan account for about half of Macao, China's market share. From January to November this year, Zhongshan supplied 3,858 batches and 31,410 tons of vegetables to Macao, China, with no quality or safety accidents occurring.
"Previously, vegetables supplied to Macao, China were included in the 'negative list' of goods eligible for direct clearance and release, and could not implement direct export release. At the same time, the port inspection and quarantine authorities also had to carry out port inspections on vegetables supplied to Macao, China in accordance with a certain proportion. But now, vegetable export enterprises can directly declare for export to the Gongbei Customs authorities on the strength of the clearance certificate issued by our bureau. This method is an important step in simplifying inspection and quarantine clearance procedures and will greatly increase the speed of vegetable export clearance," said Luo Lijuan, deputy section chief of the Animal and Plant Quarantine Supervision Section of the Zhongshan Inspection and Quarantine Bureau.
Zhongshan Hongcheng Fruit and Vegetable Trading Co., Ltd. exports more than 30 tons of vegetables to Macao, China on average every day. "About half of our company's daily vegetables supplied to Macao, China are transported to local vegetable markets in Macao, China for the early market. Fresh vegetables are fresh agricultural products. Previously, if on-site spot checks were encountered at the port, arrival at the Macao, China market would generally be delayed by 2-3 hours, affecting the wholesale and sales of vegetables," said Liang Qiwen, manager of the company.
Zhuhai, which belongs to the same Gongbei Customs district as Zhongshan, is, like Zhongshan, an important area for supplying agricultural products to Macao, China. "From January to November this year, the bureau inspected and quarantined a total of 22,600 batches of agricultural products supplied to Macao, China, with a value of 90.9358 million USD, and 100% passed re-inspection by the Macao, China side.
According to Zhu Shaozhi, deputy director of the Zhuhai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, while actively carrying out Zhuhai-Macao, China inspection and quarantine scientific research cooperation, the bureau has increased the intensity of risk management and applied the "centralized distribution" management model to promote small and medium-sized enterprises in establishing distribution centers, implementing process management and quality monitoring in all links from planting, purchasing to processing and export, and implementing one-stop traceability management.
