Nanfeng mandarin oranges grown to high quality, Dangyang farmer's cultivation proves effective

Nanfeng mandarin orange is a well-known fruit from Jiangxi and a pillar industry for local farmers to get rich. In Dangyang City, Hubei Province, a farmer used scientific methods to grow Nanfeng mandarin oranges, producing high-quality Nanfeng mandarin oranges that even surprised buyers. This farmer is Li Yuanxi, a citrus grower in Herong Town, Dangyang.
Li Yuanxi's Nanfeng mandarin orange orchard is in Group 8, Hongming Village, Herong Town, Dangyang City. In 2005, led by local skilled growers, Li Yuanxi planted 872 Nanfeng mandarin orange trees, plus Dingxiang mandarin oranges, bringing the total citrus area to 28 mu.
Because he did not understand the techniques, the Nanfeng mandarin orange orchard bore fruit very sparsely. In 2013, the 28 mu of citrus bore only 1,500 kg of fruit, less than the yield of half a mu of high-yielding citrus. On February 23, 2014, Yichang citrus expert Zhang Daping was invited to Li Yuanxi's citrus orchard for on-site diagnosis and treatment, and determined that the main problem of the citrus not bearing fruit was fertilization.
Under the guidance of the citrus expert, Li Yuanxi managed the orchard according to the optimization plan prescribed by the citrus expert, applying more bio-organic fertilizer and medium and trace elements, and using residue-free, highly effective, high-quality pesticides such as SK mineral oil Lvying and Aiduoshou. That year, Li Yuanxi used the SK mineral oil Lvying optimization plan three times, keeping the citrus in the field free of insects and disease. At the same time, he invested more than 20,000 yuan in organic fertilizer and trace elements, reducing the number of pesticide applications from 10 in the past to 3. Applying scientific and technological achievements brought astonishing changes to Li Yuanxi's citrus orchard. The citrus known as male trees all bore fruit abundantly, and the whole citrus orchard had glossy green branches and leaves, heavy fruit, neat and beautiful, with a commercial fruit rate of over 95%. Especially the Nanfeng mandarin oranges, which bore fruit in clusters like grapes, yielding more than 50,000 jin.
In 2015, although it was an off year for citrus, Li Yuanxi still insisted on managing the orchard according to the green food citrus optimization plan and achieved another bumper harvest. On December 16, Li Yuanxi told reporters that the more than 800 Nanfeng mandarin orange trees he planted had reached an even higher level of quality this year, with almost no inferior fruit. Although the yield dropped by nearly 10,000 jin compared with the previous year, phenomena such as citrus splitting disappeared and the fruit was more beautiful, with Nanfeng mandarin oranges alone bringing in more than 50,000 yuan.
