Yang Yanbo: An 80s-born prosperity leader from deep in the mountains

Yang Yanbo is a villager of Ma'anshan Village, Yili Town, Oroqen Banner. Because his family was poor, he went alone to Harbin to work in marketing right after finishing middle school. Six years later, Yang Yanbo resolutely decided to return to his hometown to start a business with the savings he had accumulated over the years. Having grown up in the countryside and faced with the reality of little farmland at home, he came up with the idea of growing black fungus.

In 2013, through the joint efforts of Yang Yanbo and 5 villagers, the "Xiaobo Farmers' Planting Professional Cooperative of Ma'anshan Village, Yili Town, Oroqen Banner" was officially established, and he began field cultivation of the edible fungus black fungus. In 2013, the cooperative cultivated 130,000 bags of black fungus and earned more than 400,000 yuan; in 2014, the cooperative cultivated 400,000 bags and earned 1.26 million yuan; in 2015, it cultivated 400,000 bags and also carried out trial cultivation of lion's mane mushroom and nameko mushroom.

Through constant exploration and accumulation, Yang Yanbo and his companions created two new black fungus cultivation techniques, "making small openings and many openings, and opening the top according to the aging degree of the fungus bag," which increased the black fungus yield per fungus bag by 50%, from less than 50 grams to about 75 grams. Moreover, the black fungus produced through the new techniques is in a single-piece round bowl shape, which looks better than the traditional chrysanthemum cluster shape, and sells well in the market. Calculated at a wholesale price of 50 yuan per kilogram, each fungus bag increases income by more than 1 yuan.

Yang Yanbo did not forget his fellow villagers after becoming prosperous. On June 27, 2014, the on-site exchange meeting on black fungus cultivation in the southern townships of Oroqen Banner was held at the Xiaobo Farmers' Planting Professional Cooperative. At the meeting, Yang Yanbo gave a detailed introduction to the technical process of black fungus cultivation, from the cultivation of fungus spawn and field management after inoculation to the whole process of picking and drying, and taught everyone without reservation the two new black fungus cultivation techniques they had created, "making small openings and many openings, and opening the top according to the aging degree of the fungus bag," so as to drive more farmers to engage in black fungus cultivation, greatly improve the quality of black fungus in Oroqen Banner, and promote the growth and expansion of the black fungus industry.

From being unemployed at home to starting a business, Yang Yanbo's life has achieved a beautiful transformation. Through his personal experience and life lessons, he shows us the striving journey of an 80s-born person.
