Puyang, Henan: "Internet + grapes" broadens the path to prosperity

Recently, Guo Lihua, head of the Puxi Grape Planting Garden in Maxinzhuang Village, Huangfu Subdistrict, Puyang Development Zone, has been repeatedly visiting e-commerce experts in the zone to learn from their online sales experience.

"Now everyone everywhere is doing e-commerce, and we can't fall behind. While we have the time now, we should visit a few more e-commerce companies and strive to win a splendid battle in online sales next year." On December 21, just after coming out of the Puyang E-commerce Park in the development zone, Guo Lihua took out her phone and said to her partner.

The Puxi Grape Planting Garden was established in 2012. At that time, Maxinzhuang Village was actively advancing land transfer and calling on villagers to develop ecological picking agriculture. As a university graduate, Guo Lihua keenly seized the huge business opportunity contained in this, and after seeking her family's opinions, decided to develop ecological picking agriculture centered on grape picking.

However, the road to success is full of hardships. Due to a lack of frontline planting experience, the grapes Guo Lihua planted suffered from pests and diseases, resulting in a total crop failure. At this point, Guo Lihua did not choose to retreat, but decided to start over. Back in action, Guo Lihua on the one hand invited grape planting experts to provide business guidance, and on the other hand learned grape planting techniques through the Internet. Hard work pays off. In 2014, the grapes Guo Lihua planted had a bumper harvest. However, amid the joy, Guo Lihua found that because early publicity had not been sufficient, the number of city residents coming to pick grapes was not as many as expected. By the year-end reckoning, the garden's profits were very small.

How to quickly raise the garden's visibility became another "fortress" Guo Lihua had to conquer. During the Spring Festival this year, Guo Lihua noticed that many people chose to "show off" on WeChat Moments the things and events they thought were worth liking. So Guo Lihua decided to use WeChat Moments to promote her grape planting garden. This summer, city residents came in an endless stream to pick grapes at the Puxi Grape Planting Garden, and Guo Lihua accordingly earned a great deal.

Having tasted the sweetness of the Internet, Guo Lihua decided to ride this favorable trend to further expand the grape planting area, and planned to achieve a breakthrough in grape deep-processing industries such as winemaking. "Whether we can broaden our path to prosperity this time still depends on the Internet. Through these days of visits, we have already reached a preliminary cooperation intention with a well-known domestic e-commerce company, and I believe there will be a satisfactory result." Guo Lihua said with full confidence.
