Su Beifeng: Having grown rich through farming, he never forgot to help villagers get rich

Recently, this writer visited the "Wanjinfeng Family Planning Household Farm" in Dade Village, Guzhu Township, Yongding. Looking out, a beautiful pastoral scene unfolded, and farm owner Su Beifeng and his employees were busy weeding the fruit trees and pruning branches and leaves.

Su Beifeng worked as a migrant laborer in his early years and also did business. After many years of hard struggle, he had saved up some money. In 2004, Su Beifeng took his savings and returned to his home village alone, using 23,000 yuan to buy 50 mu of tea garden in the village, while also contracting more than 200 mu of mountain land in the village to plant persimmons, bayberry, pomelo, citrus and other fruits. Every day he worked from dawn to dusk on the mountain planting and managing fruit trees. At the same time, he bought a large number of books on planting, worked hard to teach himself planting techniques, and consulted professional technicians in the county. After many years of diligent cultivation, Su Beifeng's orchard finally reached today's scale of more than 300 mu.

"In the middle of this mountain there are more than 4,000 apple persimmon trees, grafted onto local red persimmon trees planted more than 10 years ago using high-branch grafting. At the top, more than 30 mu of Dongkui bayberry are planted, while below the mountain loquat, honey pomelo and other fruit trees are planted, and behind the farm headquarters there are more than 50 mu of tea garden," Su Beifeng said happily as he led us on a tour. "I also built a pig farm on the right side of the farm headquarters, with more than 500 finished pigs marketed annually, which at this year's prices can bring in more than 300,000 yuan. I also make full use of pig manure as organic fertilizer for the fruit trees, forming a three-dimensional farming system that is both ecological and environmentally friendly, and also yields relatively good economic returns." Su Beifeng also used the mountain land comprehensive development demonstration farm to drive 16 family planning households in the village to develop apple persimmons, red-fleshed pomelo, bayberry and other economic crops on a larger scale, which not only revitalized the village's idle land but also solved the employment problem of surplus labor in the village.
