Hu Jinxiang, 41 years old, is from Tianxin Village, Kengtun Village Committee, Baipenzhu Town, Huidong County. In her early years, Hu Jinxiang worked as a hired laborer for a local large fish farmer, and mastered the key techniques of freshwater fish farming and the methods of daily fish farm management. The 2011 Fukushima nuclear power plant leak incident in Japan caused a sharp drop in sales of marine fish products, and freshwater fish therefore gained market favor. In order to achieve poverty alleviation and prosperity, seize market opportunities, drive the local freshwater aquaculture industry, and develop the mountain economy, Hu Jinxiang leased 190 mu of mountain land and fish ponds located in Jiudiankeng from the Jiudiankeng Villager Group of Kengtun Village Committee, Baipenzhu Town, Huidong County on March 6, 2011, for freshwater fish farming, with a lease term ending on March 6, 2041. The total investment in the fish ponds reached about 900,000 yuan, mainly farming carp, crucian carp, bighead carp, and silver carp, sold mainly to the Pearl River Delta region. After 2 years of accumulated experience, Hu Jinxiang's freshwater fish farming scale has also continued to expand, with the fish pond area reaching 150 mu. It has become a modern freshwater aquaculture fish farm with complete supporting facilities and strict daily comprehensive epidemic prevention management, and has achieved relatively good economic benefits.

Industrial foundation: First, the business site covers a relatively large area, with the fish ponds and mountain land covering about 190 mu, and the fish pond area about 150 mu. Second, the land lease term is long, with a lease term of 30 years. Third, the operating environment is good. The fish ponds are located in the mountainous area of Baipenzhu Town, Huidong County, with a mild climate, abundant water resources, excellent water quality, a secluded site, convenient transportation, favorable isolation, and distance from villages and towns. All comprehensive conditions meet the requirements for freshwater fish farming and are suitable for a high-quality freshwater fish industry. Fourth, quarantine and epidemic prevention measures are complete, disinfection management is in place, and feeding methods are scientific, which can meet the current fish pond farming scale.

Market sales: Over the years, Hu Jinxiang has been honest and trustworthy, and in addition, the freshwater fish produced by the fish ponds have delicious meat, so she has won a relatively stable group of customers and established stable production and sales relationships with larger wholesalers in the Pearl River Delta region, achieving an annual output of 280,000 jin of freshwater fish from the fish ponds.

Expected economic benefits: At present, the fish ponds farm 150 mu, with an annual output of about 280,000 jin. The price of the four major families, carp, crucian carp, bighead carp, and silver carp, is about 5 yuan. One farming cycle per year (with uninterrupted capital investment during the period) is about 12 months, with annual income of about 1.4 million yuan, required input costs of about 1.19 million yuan, and annual profit of about 210,000 yuan. If the loan is successfully obtained, it will effectively solve the borrower's funding problem. The expected annual output will reach 320,000 jin, annual income will be about 2 million yuan, required input costs will be about 1.7 million yuan, and annual profit will be about 300,000 yuan.

Demonstration and driving role: Mature farming techniques and continuously expanding farming scale have made Hu Jinxiang somewhat well-known locally. More and more people in the surrounding areas have seen the development prospects of freshwater fish farming and have followed suit one after another. With her help and guidance, 35 farmer households in the surrounding areas participated in the freshwater fish farming industry, and the living standards of the villagers have been significantly improved.
