Mushroom cultivation helps Liu Fei, a university student in Wusu, get on the road to prosperity
On January 5, it was ice and snow outdoors, but **in the greenhouse of Liu Fei, a villager of Wangxiangzhuang Village, Ganhezi Town, Wusu, it was as warm as spring. Inside the greenhouse, bags of mushroom sticks were neatly arranged, with clusters sprouting here and clumps growing there; the mushrooms in the fruiting stage were growing vigorously.
Liu Fei, 37 this year, had been working in Karamay after graduating from university. In October 2015, Liu Fei returned to his hometown Wusu and, together with his uncle Liu Haishen, began growing mushrooms, starting his entrepreneurial journey.
Liu Fei said that every time he came home to visit relatives, he would always hear people talk about how to farm well and how to become rich. After hearing it many times, Liu Fei, who had been away for many years, had an idea in his mind - go back to his hometown to farm. "I was born in the countryside and grew up in the countryside, and I have special feelings for the countryside and the land. It just so happens that my uncle knows how to grow mushrooms, and the price of mushrooms is also good, so I decided to go into mushroom cultivation," Liu Fei said.
In September 2015, in order to adjust the industrial structure and increase farmers' income, the Party committee and government of Ganhezi Town built 10 greenhouses in Wangxiangzhuang Village, taking the lead in developing protected agriculture in the whole town. This made Liu Fei extremely excited, and he felt his opportunity had come. Without delay, in late October 2015, Liu Fei signed contracts to lease two greenhouses, invited his uncle, and spent nearly 20,000 yuan to buy raw materials. After nearly a week of preparation, the first batch of more than 7,000 bags of mushroom sticks moved into the greenhouses.
"Judging from the current fruiting situation, the mushroom sticks are all normal. Each bag can produce 2 kg of mushrooms. At a conservative price of 5 yuan per kg, the first batch of mushrooms can bring nearly 70,000 yuan in income. As farmers enter the winter slack season, I can hire many fellow villagers who are idle at home to work, teach them cultivation techniques, and pursue prosperity together with them. We have contacted customers, and the average daily demand reaches one ton." Liu Fei said that in the new year, he plans to expand the current cultivation scale of 7,000 bags of mushroom sticks to 30,000 bags of mushroom sticks, expand the existing varieties to 6, and achieve an annual output value of more than 100,000 yuan.
