On January 6, 2016, Jiang Changgen, a villager from Dajia Village, Zhangcun Township, Dexing City, Jiangxi Province, was piloting his homemade helicopter with its rotor spinning at high speed. That afternoon, in a remote small village in Zhangcun Township, Dexing City, Jiangxi Province, the farmer Jiang Changgen, past the age of 50, once again towed a small helicopter 2.65 m tall, 2.5 m long, with a rotor diameter of 8 m and weighing 650 kg, which he had spent 3 years and nearly 200,000 yuan to build, to a playground in the village for another test flight, attracting many curious onlookers.
At the test flight site, after the helicopter's rotor spun at high speed for more than 10 minutes, the attempt ended in failure due to rotor speed problems and insufficient power from the old car engine he had purchased. Afterwards, Jiang Changgen said: building an aircraft is purely his personal hobby and interest; after the first test flight failed in August 2014, although he made multiple improvements and suffered repeated test flight failures, he would still keep going until his dream of "flying to the sky" comes true.
