Zhu Chuanyin Made a Fortune Raising Chickens and Never Forgot His Ties to His Hometown; He Helps Those in Danger and Relieves the Needy, and Is Passionate About Public Welfare

Zhu Chuanyin is an entrepreneurial breeding expert in the mountains of Baimao Town, Yuexi County, in our city. Over the past 15 years, he has gone from being a layman in the breeding industry to a savvy professional, from having no market outlets to now being unable to meet demand, and from working "single-handedly" to now driving surrounding farmers along with him. Every bit of progress has been built on his 15 years of effort, sweat and persistence; he also uses his own practical actions to embody "do things with heart, live with gratitude."

Starting From Scratch, Beginning From "One"

Zhu Chuanyin is from Zhuci Group, Zhupu Village, Baimao Town, Yuexi County. He is thin, of medium height, and carries an air of sharp capability. After graduating from junior high school in 1991, at just 16 he went to Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, to work in a ceramic tile factory. In 1999, he learned that his hometown could develop breeding, so he resolutely returned to Yuexi, bought a book on breeding at a bookstore, and began a difficult entrepreneurial career.

"In the early days of starting out, I had no place and no funds. I relied on reading books to learn a bit about breeding, and could only take one step at a time, striving to make every step steady." On January 5, Zhu Chuanyin said with emotion that in order to try various kinds of breeding, he had also grown greenhouse vegetables and raised goats, rabbits, pigeons, golden pheasants, as well as free-range native chickens in woodland and chick hatching work. In the end, he chose to raise native chickens.

However, the breeding path in the early days of starting out was not very smooth. Just as he was figuring out some of the tricks, he ran into the 2003 "SARS" outbreak, and then the 2004 "bird flu." "Those two years were a huge blow to breeders. Not only could the chickens not be sold, but they were infected with disease and died in batches." Zhu Chuanyin recalled.

Entrepreneurship is not achieved overnight; the key is still to persist with heart. "In business, I never look at how much money there is, only at the ratio of daily sales to expenses. If it is positive growth, then I am still making progress, and that gives me confidence." With this optimistic entrepreneurial mindset and the perseverance to keep going every day, Zhu Chuanyin focused all his attention on raising chickens. Day after day, year after year, he created a breeding scale that grew from 300 native chickens raised per year in 1999 to more than 10,000 chickens raised per year now.

Now he has 50 mu of mountain land and nearly 10,000 native chickens. He has not only set up a chicken specialty store in the county seat, but also established stable partnerships with merchants in Wuhan, Hefei and other places. Annual total slaughter volume is around 100,000 chickens, and annual sales reach more than 300,000 yuan.

Leading Ten With One, Driving Employment

Because the area is located at the foot of Yangjiaojian locally, Zhu Chuanyin from the beginning sold green, pollution-free native chickens and eggs under the local place name, and registered an ecological agriculture enterprise. "In recent years, our products have become well known because I usually focus on product quality. Even if the market sells out, then there is simply no stock. I will absolutely never pass off someone else's eggs as my own." Zhu Chuanyin introduced.

At Zhu Chuanyin's breeding base, flocks of native chickens come as soon as they are called. Carrying a load of corn kernels on his shoulder, he affectionately calls the chickens "little chickens." Yangjiaojian is remote, and his father is honest and kind-hearted. Among his father and his two brothers, two uncles never married. The eldest uncle is 65 years old, and the second uncle is 57. He also has a 42-year-old brother who has still not married, and Zhu Chuanyin cares for all of their daily lives. For more than ten years, a family of eight has relied on the chicken-raising business, following a family management model of distribution according to need and each doing their best, and has lived prosperously.

Zhu Chuanyin's maternal uncle originally worked elsewhere. Encouraged and driven by him, after returning home in 2011, his uncle raised more than 4,000 native chickens and earned an average of 70,000 to 80,000 yuan per year. "In recent years, raising chickens not only makes money, but also lets me care for my 80-year-old mother at home. It is much better than working outside." Zhu Chuanyin's uncle said with a smile.

In 2012, Zhu Chuanyin established a professional native chicken breeding cooperative locally and registered a brand trademark, and the business officially got on track. "I had no master to teach me; I relied entirely on self-study. Every failure accumulated experience. Over 15 years, it is through this kind of struggling and learning by doing that I have figured out breeding experience." Zhu Chuanyin said.

"I have been learning chicken-raising techniques from Zhu Chuanyin for more than a year. One thing he often says is, 'In anything you do, first be a good person; that is the most basic thing,' which deeply inspired me." said Liu Jianyan, a young man from Gufang who follows Zhu Chuanyin in learning chicken-raising techniques. Now, using his own entrepreneurial experience, he has driven more than 30 breeding households in the county and surrounding areas, ranging from several thousand chickens to several hundred, achieving the goal of driving one household, supporting one household, and making one household successful.

Relieving Poverty and Helping the Needy, Passionate About Public Welfare

In his spare time, Zhu Chuanyin is active online under the screen name "My Wife Sells Chickens," actively promoting his hometown and devoting himself to public welfare causes.

It is understood that he not only takes good care of several uncles at home, but also single-handedly supports Zhu Jiuhe, a widowed and childless elderly person in the same village in his 70s, until the end of his life; he raised several thousand yuan in charitable donations online and offline for a kidney failure patient in the village, winning unanimous praise from local people; in 2001, he led villagers to the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences to meet professors, and after returning home planted southern early-maturing pears, which now yield 5,000 jin per mu and bring in more than 10,000 yuan per mu, setting a poor family on the path to prosperity. In 2012, Zhu Chuanyin joined the Yuexi Volunteer Alliance, and in his spare time from business he travels through the fields and alleys of the countryside, keeping the hardships of disadvantaged groups in his heart. "Although each donation is not much money, it represents a piece of love. Sometimes, the caring force in society can let a struggling family see hope." Zhu Chuanyin said.

For many years, Zhu Chuanyin has always stayed committed to the breeding industry and participated in public welfare causes with heart. "I always feel that burning incense far away is not as good as doing good deeds nearby. Doing more things meaningful to society and using my own modest strength to help the people around me who need help makes me feel very fulfilled." Zhu Chuanyin said.

"Chuanyin is a specialty breeding expert in Zhupu Village. On the basis of doing well in his own business, he actively drives surrounding farmers to get rich together and has made positive contributions to the 'dual training and dual leading' work." commented Zhu Chuanyang, Party branch secretary of Zhupu Village.

Zhu Chuanyin said: "Although I am a farmer, in our mountains there are many people who work hard, are kind and simple, seek truth and are pragmatic, keep their feet on the ground, and are brave in innovation. They are all the most beautiful farmers. The four words 'simple and kind' - no matter how far I go, I will never forget them."
