Xu Wensheng, a livestock farmer in Group 8 of Sanxing Village, Benchai Town, recently built an integrated septic tank and biogas digester of more than 40 cubic meters, with a total investment of only just over 5,500 yuan, integrating manure treatment and biogas use.

Xu Wensheng raises more than 100 pigs each year. A few years ago he built a biogas digester at home, using pig manure to ferment biogas, which was very economical. In 2015, the whole town carried out a livestock and poultry manure cleanup campaign, and Xu Wensheng responded actively as well. So he sought out Ma Haiji, the person in charge of biogas construction in the town, and explained his idea of both treating manure and using biogas. Ma Haiji had worked in construction for more than 30 years and is also a professional craftsman in biogas digester construction. After careful design, he cleverly inserted a biogas digester with a capacity of 15 cubic meters in the middle of a three-chamber septic tank, making feeding more convenient, saving labor in future use, integrating manure treatment and biogas use, and achieving the effect of low investment and multiple functions. It became the first of its kind in the area around Benchai. By the 12th, all construction and safekeeping work was completed, and it has now been put into use.
