The "Meizhou-Taiwan Agricultural Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center," jointly established by the Guangdong Meizhou Municipal Agriculture Bureau and the Taiwan Affairs Bureau of the Meizhou Municipal People's Government, was officially inaugurated on the 21st at the Meizhou-Taiwan Cultural and Creative Industrial Park in Meizhou. The "Cross-Strait Four-Regions Agricultural Expert Workstation" was established at the same time.
The Meizhou-Taiwan Agricultural Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center is a cultural and creative platform for agricultural products. It will deepen the areas of Meizhou-Taiwan agricultural cooperation, learn from and introduce improved varieties, improved methods, and quality products from Taiwan's agricultural products, and combine them with local culinary culture and agricultural culture to carry out innovation in varieties, technology, functions, and many other aspects. After the establishment of the Cross-Strait Four-Regions Agricultural Expert Workstation, institutions such as the Guangdong Provincial Doctoral Team, the Taiwan Agricultural Expert Doctoral Working Team, and the Hong Kong Organic Certification Center, together with more than 170 agricultural experts cooperating with Meizhou's agriculture departments, will carry out cooperative exchanges in multiple fields such as land improvement, improved varieties and methods, and deep processing of agricultural products.
Liu Yutao, Director of the Meizhou Municipal Agriculture Bureau, said that Taiwan's modern agriculture development has already taken the lead, and its agricultural development philosophy of "refinement of leading industries and leisureization of characteristic industries" is worth Meizhou learning from. The "dual innovation" center and workstation, one is a creative park for agricultural products in the market economy, cultivating "agricultural industries with culture." The other is the technological support in the agricultural production chain, and also provides broader space for the transformation and application of Taiwan's agricultural scientific and technological achievements.
It is reported that Meizhou is a famous "hometown of Taiwan compatriots," and the two places have close exchanges. Meizhou and Taiwan are in the same latitude zone and have similar agricultural production conditions. When facing difficulties in agricultural transformation such as the aging of the rural labor force and the low efficiency of traditional crops, Meizhou began to learn from Taiwan's refined agriculture model. At present, more than 30 fine Taiwan varieties such as cherry blossoms, orchids, and borneol have been introduced, and there are more than 30 Taiwan-related agricultural enterprises. In May 2010, China's Ministry of Agriculture and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council approved the establishment of the Taiwan Farmers' Entrepreneurship Park in Meizhou.
