According to the Rizhao Meteorological Observatory, a rare cold wave is incoming. On the 22nd, the cold wave had already begun to affect Rizhao. A Dazhong Net reporter learned from the Rizhao Agriculture Bureau that agricultural production must take measures against freezing, wind and snow.
Liu Xianhai, head of the Cash Crop Station of the Rizhao Municipal Agriculture Bureau, said that the impact of the cold wave on winter agricultural production is mainly on vegetable greenhouses. Farmers should cover greenhouses with straw curtains; where conditions permit, they can also cover the thick rear wall of the greenhouse with straw curtains or straw to enhance the wall's insulation. If there is strong wind or snowfall, farmers should also cover the straw curtains with a layer of film and reinforce the greenhouse with ropes to prevent the effects of strong wind and heavy snow.
Liu Xianhai also told reporters that before the cold wave arrives, farmers can water and fertilize vegetables in advance, and then there is no need to water or fertilize again during the cold days. (Reporter Cui Weicheng)
