Luoyang farmer returns home to raise Hu sheep, fulfills entrepreneurial dream and opens up a path to prosperity

Six years ago, under the influence of the "Return Project" implemented by the Party Committee and Town Government of Songzhuang Town, Mengjin County, Luoyang City, Henan Province, Mo Xinge abandoned business and returned to his hometown to found Luoyang's largest Hu sheep breeding base. In just a few short years, he not only fulfilled his own entrepreneurial dream, but also opened up a path to prosperity for the folks back home.
Mo Xinge was born into an ordinary farming family in Mogou Village, Songzhuang Town. Because the village was surrounded by ravines and gullies, with abundant forage resources on the barren slopes, and because his ancestors had experience raising sheep, Mo Xinge developed a great interest in sheep raising from an early age. After graduating from middle school, he began working away from home to accumulate wealth and experience for his dream. In his spare time, he made several trips to Anhui and other places to investigate and learn Hu sheep breeding techniques. In 2010, when conditions were ripe, he resolutely returned home to start his own business, becoming a true modern "shepherd."
In April 2011, after completing preliminary preparations, Mo Xinge raised 500,000 yuan and established Xinwo Breeding Farm, introducing large numbers of the excellent new breed "Taihu Hu Sheep Generation 1." Through scientific feeding, by the end of that year he had successfully marketed more than 600 finished sheep, achieving a profit of 300,000 yuan. In 2013, he pressed on in one effort, investing 45 million yuan to register and establish Luoyang Xinwo Animal Husbandry Technology Co., Ltd., expanding the sheep shed area to more than 60 mu, increasing the number of foundational Hu sheep ewes to more than 5,600, and achieving a scale of more than 1,300 finished sheep marketed per month.
In 2015, Mo Xinge spent another 5 million yuan to build an ecological environment manure treatment plant, which not only digested and absorbed the crop straw of surrounding farmers, but also provided organic fertilizer for the local ten-thousand-mu pollution-free vegetable, strawberry, watermelon and other specialty planting bases, forming a virtuous ecological agricultural cycle chain of "straw - Hu sheep - ecological fertilizer - plantation." It drove more than 300 nearby farming households to engage in Hu sheep breeding, forage planting, feed processing, organic fertilizer treatment, finished sheep sales, pollution-free vegetable planting and more, increasing farmers' income by more than 27 million yuan each year.
Today, Xinwo Animal Husbandry Technology Co., Ltd. has 8 modern standardized breeding sheep sheds totaling 7,600 sq m, a 1,000 sq m hay shed, a 2,000 sq m silage pit, an 800 sq m feed warehouse, and a 200 sq m isolation shed, and is also equipped with a forage processing room, a green storage forage room, a personnel passage disinfection room, an artificial insemination and embryo transfer room, etc. At the same time, it has established a growth file for each Hu sheep, effectively enhancing the brand quality of the Hu sheep.
As a private entrepreneur, Mo Xinge has never forgotten to give back to society since becoming prosperous through entrepreneurship. In 2010, he specially established a family planning association in his own village. For association members and affiliated family planning households, contracts are signed on a priority basis, free training is provided, and a minimum annual income of 50,000 yuan is guaranteed. Mo Xinge believes that only by sincerely giving back to society and to his hometown can an enterprise win society's trust and support and continue to develop and grow.
