Young man gets rich raising rabbits and never forgets to lead his fellow villagers to increase their income together
Recently, Wang Jingzhen, a villager from Sunling Village, Qianling Township, Susong County, Anqing City, has often received calls from strangers. These customers, from surrounding counties and cities as well as Hubei, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and other places, have called one after another to ask about the price and growth of meat rabbits. Some want to taste the delicious finished meat rabbits raised by Wang Jingzhen, some want to buy breeding rabbits to raise at home, and others want to ask him for advice on meat rabbit raising techniques... Wang Jingzhen patiently answered each one until the customers were satisfied.
In 1986, Wang Jingzhen was born into a poor family in Sunling Village, Qianling Township, Susong County. His hometown, commonly known as "Yixiangzui," is located by the shore of Longhu Lake in the south-central part of Susong County. In earlier times, Yixiang was very poor. When Wang Jingzhen was still an infant, his mother left him and his father, and it was his grandmother and father who raised him. In 2003, Wang Jingzhen went to Guangxi to join the military, where he served as a communications soldier and then as a guard; he was commended many times and was rated an "Outstanding Soldier." In 2004, Wang Jingzhen was sent by the military to a rabbit breeding base in Mengshan County, Wuzhou, Guangxi, to study. Through observation and practice, he quickly mastered a great deal of knowledge about meat rabbit breeding, and from then on developed a strong interest in raising meat rabbits. After being discharged and returning home in 2005, seeing that his hometown was still as poor and backward as before, he resolved to develop a rabbit breeding business and lead his fellow villagers out of poverty toward prosperity. So he made up his mind to start his own business. Less than a month after returning home, he traveled at his own expense to a meat rabbit breeding base in Guangxi to devote himself to learning rabbit breeding techniques. Before long, he had mastered techniques and knowledge such as breeding rabbit reproduction, meat rabbit raising, and rabbit disease prevention and treatment. Soon, the base made him a technician. After that, he went to large meat rabbit bases in Liuzhou, Guangxi, and Shaoguan, Guangdong, for internships and training, thereby mastering a set of basic techniques for raising meat rabbits.
In 2006, Wang Jingzhen returned to his hometown. He raised more than 40,000 yuan, put up rabbit sheds, added rabbit cages, introduced a few breeding rabbits, and began raising them carefully. Because of the high reproduction rate, within half a year the rabbits had rapidly grown to more than 200. Just when Wang Jingzhen was full of ambition and preparing to introduce improved breeds again and go all out, his father, worn out from years of toil, fell seriously ill and unfortunately passed away! Even so, Wang Jingzhen never for a moment forgot the rabbit breeding business he cherished. In his spare time, he bought a large number of books on rabbit breeding and took time to travel far to meat rabbit breeding bases in Guangxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Shandong and other places to observe and study.
In May of last year, Wang Jingzhen built several simple rabbit sheds by the shore of Longhu Lake with his own hands, bought rabbit cages, and introduced 30 breeding rabbits from other places to raise carefully. On February 15, during an interview, the reporter saw that by the shore of Longhu Lake, the young man Wang Jingzhen was busy, diligently shuttling between the rabbit cages and the fields, cutting grass, feeding, managing, and bustling about happily...
"Rabbits eat a lot. Early every morning I have to go to the lakeside to cut grass, and sometimes I have to go back and forth more than a dozen times..." Wang Jingzhen told the reporter. Not long ago, his grandmother, who depended on each other with him, passed away, and Wang Jingzhen became even busier outside and at home, often unable to eat the next meal after finishing one. "I often skip breakfast. I really have no time to cook!" "One morning, I found a python as thick as a water bucket crawling out of my rabbit shed. I went into the shed and saw that more than a dozen meat rabbits had vanished. They had become food in the snake's belly just like that..." Speaking of these things, Wang Jingzhen looked regretful.
After half a year of hard work, Wang Jingzhen's rabbit farm has begun to take shape. The reproduction rate of the meat rabbits is extremely high. Because the breeding and disease prevention techniques are in place, his rabbits have now grown from 30 last year to more than 400, and the largest adult rabbit weighs about 8 jin. Calculated at 30 yuan per jin, one can sell for more than 200 yuan. Arriving at the rabbit shed, we saw several hundred meat rabbits of more than 10 breeds, named "Longhu Black Rabbit, Japanese Large Ear Rabbit, Wannan Spotted Giant Rabbit, New Zealand Rabbit" and others, chattering as they scrambled for forage. "I am building a workshop and preparing to expand the breeding scale. Soon I will set up a breeding company so that the villagers around can all raise meat rabbits." It is understood that, seeing that raising rabbits is profitable, dozens of nearby villagers have already introduced breeding rabbits from him to raise. As for the technical problems the villagers encounter in breeding, Wang Jingzhen answers them one by one without ever growing tired of it.
"Everyone come raise rabbits and get rich; I am happy..." Wang Jingzhen sincerely told the reporter during the interview.
