Kong Qingshan, a 52-year-old farmer in Xinbin Town, Fushun City, makes his fortune raising cattle
Only by loving a trade can you master it. Every trade has its own tricks, but whether you can grasp them depends on the person. Kong Qingshan, a 52-year-old villager in Minzhu Village, Xinbin Town, has figured out his own tricks in the beef cattle business, and this has brought him considerable economic returns.
Laoshan Fattening Cattle Farm is located in Minzhu Village, Xinbin Town, with two 600-sq-m cowsheds, a standard disinfection room and a veterinary room. The farm raises breeds such as Liaoyu White cattle, Simmental and Japanese Black cattle, and currently maintains a herd of 200 to 300 head. Laoshan Fattening Cattle Farm is already somewhat well known in Xinbin, but its operator Kong Qingshan switched to this trade midway. He saw many stories of farmers getting rich on TV and came up with the idea of investing in a cattle farm, which many people could not understand.
Kong Qingshan told reporters that at first his family did not support him much, and relatives and friends could not wrap their heads around it either, but he just wanted to raise cattle. Since his family were all farmers, none of them had experience raising cattle, so he ran into quite a few difficulties.
Because he did not know enough about breeding, the farm ran into difficulties in selecting breeds and administering vaccines. But with the help of the Xinbin Animal Health Inspection Bureau, the problems were solved. The farm settled on Liaoyu White cattle as its signature breed, and under the organization of the Animal Health Inspection Bureau went to Huishan Dairy to learn how to formulate beef cattle feed; the scientific breeding method of artificial insemination ensured the beef cattle's strong physique. That year, the farm earned considerable returns.
Kong Qingshan actively explored new directions for the farm's development and cooperated with local farmers to form a circular economy development model. Farmers' straw is exchanged for the farm's cattle manure, which both broadens the feed supply channel and provides farmers with high-quality fertilizer; the farm sells pregnant cows to farmers and then buys back the calves, ensuring the quality of the calves, achieving two benefits at once.
