The "Snake King" of Jingzhou's secrets to wealth: he raised 5000 cobras!

Cobras are highly venomous, and many people are afraid of them! But in the eyes of Jiao Liangjie, a villager from Lichang Village, Baling Mountain Town, Jingzhou District, cobras are his treasure for getting rich.

At Jiao Liangjie's cobra breeding base, the reporter saw that nearly a thousand snakes were separated into dozens of enclosed compartments, and the snake beds in each compartment were covered with thick quilts. Jiao Liangjie walked calmly into one of the compartments, lifted the quilt, gently picked up a snake, and checked its growth. Its constantly twisting body and its tongue flicking out from time to time were enough to strike fear into anyone.

Jiao Liangjie said that the more than 5000 snakes bred this year had already grown to three or four months old. Because winter had just passed and the temperature was relatively low, in order to prevent the snakes from hibernating, he specifically raised the indoor temperature to 33°C. In this way, the cobras could quickly feed and put on weight.

Every other day, Jiao Liangjie and the workers at the base had to feed the snakes once. The cobras' food was frozen chicks purchased from a nearby poultry hatchery. More than 5000 snakes ate tens of thousands of chicks every month.

Jiao Liangjie said that he had originally been a long-distance truck driver. Because he was getting older and the transport industry was in decline, in 2014 he decided to change careers and went to Qingzhou, Guangxi to learn cobra breeding techniques. In the first year after returning, he raised 1000 cobras and sold them to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Fujian at a price of 180 yuan per jin, earning profits of several hundred thousand. In 2015, through land transfer, he expanded the farm to 2600 sq m, allowing him to breed 15,000 snakes at the same time.

This year, Jiao Liangjie once again obtained more than 20 mu of land through land transfer, planning to develop feed layer hen farming while continuing cobra breeding. At the same time, he planned to establish a professional cooperative and, through profit-sharing by shareholding, help the surrounding people get rich.
