Dai Jie, a 36-year-old young man from Dai County, after graduating from Xinzhou Art School in 2009, voluntarily gave up the generous treatment of being a music and dance teacher in the city, and resolutely returned to Xiguan Village, Shangguan Town to be a farmer and embark on the path of self-employment. He rented 140 mu of saline-alkali wasteland from 16 farming households at a rent of 60 yuan per mu, with a 20-year lease. Through development and improvement, he turned the wasteland into fertile farmland, and for 5 consecutive years he planted high-quality rice varieties such as Dongdao No. 4, Jindao No. 9, Wuchang Daohuaxiang No. 3 and Jingji No. 511, with a yield of more than 550 kg per mu, achieving bumper harvests year after year, and his net income has reached more than 500,000 yuan. In recent days, with the help of villagers, Dai Jie has been driving his self-purchased combine harvester to harvest the bumper rice crop, ensuring that every grain is stored in the granary. Inspired and driven by Dai Jie, this year 70 farming households in Xiguan Village have planted more than a thousand mu of rice.
