Recently, the author met Dong Qian, a post-85s entrepreneur from Nanhe County, Hebei Province, and founder of Xingtai Zhilan Chinese Medicinal Herbs Co., Ltd. The 31-year-old Dong Qian gives people a particularly capable and efficient impression. He is from Mazhuang Village, Nanhe County. With his passion for entrepreneurship and love of Chinese medicinal herbs, he managed to dig gold out of the soil, and also led the folks back home to prosperity. The villagers affectionately call him "Herb Brother."
According to Dong Qian, the Nanhe Zhilan 10,000-mu Chinese medicinal herb planting base grows Trichosanthes root, Isatis root, chrysanthemums, honeysuckle and other Chinese medicinal herbs year-round. Among them, the Trichosanthes root base is the main one, covering more than 4,000 mu.
"Trichosanthes root is the root of Trichosanthes kirilowii, a plant in the Cucurbitaceae family, and can bring in about 10,000 yuan per mu." In front of the Trichosanthes root planting base, Dong Qian excitedly pointed to rows of Trichosanthes trellises and told the author that the base is one of the larger Trichosanthes root planting bases in China, and last year it was awarded the title of "Trichosanthes Root GAP Certified Base" by the State Food and Drug Administration. According to Dong Qian, this Trichosanthes root is specially supplied to the Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group for the production of a drug to treat diabetes. "We practice order-based planting, so we never have to worry about sales." Dong Qian said.
Years of accumulated experience in entrepreneurship have made Dong Qian even more confident, and he has also developed his own set of business methods. At present, he has built a young and capable management team, and the company's annual sales exceed 60 million yuan.
Having become famous and made money, Dong Qian is not satisfied. To realize this dream, Dong Qian worked out a "company + base + farming households" production model, providing free technical services to farming households growing Chinese medicinal herbs in Nanhe County and surrounding counties, and purchasing their products year-round. In this way, farming households can plant with confidence and steadily increase their income. In addition, he also established a cooperative farming household poverty alleviation development fund, signing special agreements with impoverished households, households enjoying the five guarantees, and other disadvantaged groups, helping them escape poverty sooner or improve their lives through targeted assistance.
It is understood that at present, more than 600 farming households have joined Dong Qian's "company + base + farming households" production model. His company provides an average of 400,000 temporary jobs each year, indirectly driving employment for thousands of families.
